Optimate 1 STD, TM-85, 3-Step 12V 0.9A Battery Charger-maintainer

Replaced one of the trickle charges I happened to have on my zero turn mower. My fault...drove off after forgetting to disconnect it! These work great for anyone considering one. They keep my batteries maximized and they last much longer in doing so!

Very happy. I actually bought this product as a replacement from a recent storm. Love it. Have been using about a year should save my $ motorcycle battery.

For strictly maintaining a battery it might be fine but if you need something for light charging jobs there are better out there. A good AGM battery should have a resting voltage above 12.7v and anything below that a charger that states it's good for AGM batteries should try to charge up to around 14.4v, then go into it's Maintenance/Float mode. My Yuasa 900 does, my Battery MINDer 12118 does, my CTEK 0.8 does, my Associated Equipment 9003 does, heck even the cheap DURABOOST Battery Maintainer 750 and Battery Tender JR will. When I hooked it up to a 8Ah AGM battery that had 12.65v this just skipped right passed the charge mode and went straight into maintenance mode. I tried this twice with the same result. If it's going to actually start to charge at 12.6v then this charger is much better suited for a standard flooded battery, not the AGM (VRLA) type that come in most if not all of the PowerSports machines today. If I left it connected Maintenance/Float mode brought the voltage up to 13.42v and held it there on two motorcycle batteries I have. I also connected it to my charged 50Ah Optima Red Top to see if it would bring it up to 13.42v and after a while it did. For strictly small batteries I kinda liked the smaller than normal battery post connectors as they allowed good solid connection even in tight spots. They were stiff and required a bit more effort to open up but I feel they are worth it if all you're using this on is small batteries. I also feel the eyelet connector that it comes with is a step above the others and looked a bit more water tight. It could be slightly more fragile due to the material though. **Minimum required voltage from a battery before this charger will activate is 8v**

Due to a safety feature it WILL NOT CHARGE A BATTERY WHICH HAS LESS THAN 8 VOLTS. This means it will not charge a dead battery. The case is also very bulky and heavy, feeling like it will fall out of the outlet any minute. I am very disappointed.

Great charger! Works as anticipated! Not the fanciest charger on the market, but does what I need it to do!

I have a few Optimate chargers yet I was tired of swapping from one battery to another. I needed another but didn’t need one with as many features or as much capacity. This one is perfect for the starting battery on my generator. Now I return home and instantly plug it back in knowing it will always be ready for next time. This is a low cost solution compared to an almost $200 battery.

First of all have to say that I driving my motorcycle only on weekends summer time and aftermarket alarm system installed on my Kawasaki ninja 650 drain it's battery pretty fast when bike not in use. So this external power connection should be great solution! For now I'm happy with it. Will see how it perform in time!

Off season I keep my snowmobile battery hooked up to the charger. Its really easy to use and you can set it and forget it.

Love these . I bought 2 plus the bigger one. Have this one on my snowmobile and dirtbike and they start like there is a brand new battery everytime.
