I bought this as a gift for my buddy. We do a lot of backpacking together and I'm sick of seeing him carry a regular pole on his back and having it get snagged on tree's etc on the trails. It can slow us down in heavily wooded areas.I have a telescoping rod/reel combo that I love although I didn't want to spend the $70 mine cost. So I bought the $30 (at the time) from SupsShops.I got this last week. Walked down to the lake yesterday and gave it a try. Here are my thoughts.Pro's- Rod is great. Collapses easy, when extended everything sticks in place and no eyelets moving around. It also has a nice feel and weight to it. I really like that the rod comes with its own carrying case so you don't need to use the huge pack they give you. Finally, I like the rod has a tip cover when collapsed that protects the eyes. Great for stuffing in a backpack!Con's- The reel is not great. It is 90% plastic so I think if you drop it once it's game over. I would not trust this reel for more than sunfish, crappies and the occasional small bass. Perfect for parents wanting to introduce a kid to fishing.OverviewIn my opinion, you are essentially buying a really nice $30 collapsing rod. If you have other reels, you will probably want to swap out and use one of those instead. The plastics they throw in are a nice bonus.I am giving this 5 stars because I was looking more for the rod than the reel. The quality of it is as nice as my $70 dollar kit. If you are looking for a nice collapsible rod, I would highly recommend!

I haven’t use the rod or reel yet. Strictly going on feel and looks. Not sure if it will hold up to a cat fish or a bass over 3 pounds.The hand grip is very small my hand just fits on the handle. I will post again after we use this a couple of times

No complaints! Perfect for beginners. May need some real bait, larger hooks and a sinker but wonderful set

I'm thinking that hopefully this was a one off with this rod. My husband was really enjoying it. He likes how compact it is and how easily it stores into the case. He likes the smoothness of the reel and the rod seems sturdy enough. Unfortunately the other day the reel fell apart and half of it dropped into the lake. Now he'll have to buy a new reel which is definitely disappointing.

Very bad quality rod and reel. Definitely cheap. The telescopic feature doesn’t stay up very well. The string breaks very easily. The string holders don’t stay in place on the pole what so ever. Very unhappy with this purchase and will not buy from them again. Waste your money elsewhere

Christmas gift

The telescoping rod is convenient but very bothersome--does not stay telescoped very well. I thought the reel had broken, but it was just jammed and I got it fixed. And the "kit" of accessories is mediocre. My suggestion it to look for a combo from a well-known manufacturer. This will work but I did some shopping yesterday at a sporting goods store near me and there are much better options in pretty much the same price range. (IN MY OPINION)

This is a decent little kit for the price. I keep mine in the car in case I see a fishing hole I need to try out. The plyers are good, The small tacklebox is good, the rod tip protector is good, the storage bag is good, even the reel has worked well for me with no issue. But the quality of the telescoping rod itself is not very good. I threw that part away and replaced it with an eagle claw telescoping rod, and I am absolutely happy with the kit it has become. All that being said the telescoping rod it comes with is like a 7 1/2 or 8 foot rod. With quite a bit of flexibility and reach.
