NOVICA, in association with National Geographic, searches the world to work directly with the finest artisan designers. By Jeff DuFlon, this enchanting jigsaw puzzle combines his love for woodworking and photography. To create the puzzle, an original photograph is laminated to cedar wood. Each community in Guatemala has a distinctive pattern for the Maya huipil blouses worn by the women, and this photo depicts the traditional and intricate textiles from San Mateo Ixtatan. Every puzzle is unique so that the shape of the pieces is always slightly different. The number of pieces will vary from 155 to 167. The pieces are stored in a bag crafted of recycled fabric from backstrap looms - the handwoven skirts favored by the Maya women of the region. Motifs and colors of the bags may vary.Jeff DuFlon says,"Her style was to give me just enough knowledge to get started and then let me take it as far as I wanted, an environment I thrived in."
