At first I thought I got a re-packaged item because of that. Even filed for a return authorization. My son had assembled one of these before and said that the broken plastic parts are NOT needed to assemble the rack. He was correct. These plastic parts appear to be to protect the shelf during shipment. After that, the only confusion during assembly was what the pole connector part is. These are screwed into the top half of the poles. The instruction booklet shows them, but does not say that these are not in the plastic bags holding all other hardware for assembly. Once I figured it out, the rest of the assembly was relatively simple. Only to discover that we had an issue with the screw-in insert between two of the top poles and bottom poles (two seemed to be cross threaded, or, very crooked). Called the help line, they said to hold the pole(s) about a foot over the floor and let them drop onto the screwed in insert (which I couldn't budge by hand) and let the impact 're-seat' the screwed in part. After a couple of good whacks, they both 'clicked' perfectly into place! A little hand tightening and it threaded perfectly onto the other pole and we finished putting up the shelving units with no long wait for a replacement part! My boss came in the next day and was delighted with the newly organized storage room instead of a jumbled room of junk. A big win-win-win! Injured shoulders make it hard to lift and maneuver heavy things above shoulder height. If Trinity could find a way to allow separate assembly of bottom and top halves, then joining the two assembled halves, it would make it easier for disabled or short people to put a rack of this height together.
