Let's Go to Work

I buy cd's for the music not the presentation of the cd book, photos, and labels. That said I should give a heads up to people going to buy this box set. First the music is great. The recordings are at a high level. No problem there. The problem is with the box set itself. For this price there should be a better cd book with more pictures giving information about the concerts and songs. Second 3/4 of the cd's are mislabeled. IOW's the cd label Live in Europe is on the Stage Struck cd. Third the cd sleeves are poorly conceived but you have to keep them because they have the song notes. Fourth on one cd the sleeve states 9 songs but there are actually 10.

Not much can be said about Rory that hasn't already been said, he's a Guitar God and this CD Rocks. He lived the Rock & Roll lifestyle and kicked ass.

Rory Gallagher is an amazingly talented blues rocker who plays both acoustic and electric guitar, harmonica, and mandolin. This set features three of his best high-energy live recordings and one previously unreleased bootleg. Fans of Rory's will not like having to shell out their hard earned cash to purchase three CD's already in their collection just to get ahold of the bootleg, but that's the way Budda records chose to do it. Those not familiar with Rory's work will receive some excellent material. Many great tunes including "I Wonder Who", "Too Much Alcohol" "A Million Miles Away", "Pistol Slapper Blues" and "What In The World". Good stuff!

I just recently found out about this collection. It brings me back to 1969 when I first saw him with Taste and at a bar called Humpin Hannahs in Milwaukee. Listening to these CDs brings back the images of him on the stage and the memories of how much fun it was to see him play. I can see the sweat and the crowd standing and rocking out.The only negative of the collection is that, at least in my version, every single cd but Meeting With the G-Man is mislabeled. The CD stamped with Stage Struck has Irish Tour, Live in Europe had the contents of Stage Struck, Irish Tour has a the songs listed for Live in Europe. Or all the CDs have the wrong set list printed on the box. Other than the mislabeling - just great music.

I highly enjoy Rory's playing and although I already own the 3 previously released albums, I was especially interested in the un-released material and booklet. I was not diapointed in both sound and quality of the new material, it rocks! My only problem, and also the reason for the four stars, was there was no booklet included. If any one knows where I can get a copy please let me know.

Most Rory fans rave about his live performances, but for a long time I preferred his studio LPs. Then I discovered the Rory bootlegs, and my opinion forever changed. Like other reviewers of this product, I already owned 3 of the 4 CDs in this package, but I wanted to get the fantastic fourth CD to complete my collection of "authorized" releases. This package is great; however, if you're even a lukewarm Rory fan (and can there be such a thing?), you will find it worthwhile to search online for bootlegs of Rory's live performances.

I have been a Rory Gallagher fan since I was 14 and have all of his recordings on both vinyl and cd.This packaged cd Let's Go To Work is exellent value despite the fact that I have 3 of the 4 cds already.The photography alone is stunning on the sleeves of each cd,but for me the most facinating thing and certainly any die hard Rory Gallagher fan will understand me when I say,the cover versions of La Bamba,the inclusion of a little Jailhouse Rock and The Beatles Revolution are amazing as I personally have never known Rory to be so flambouyant live in concert or on studio albums in the past.For these tracks alone it's worth every penny.This cd Meeting With The G-Man was recorded shortly before Rory sadly passed away,and as I say it's worth it's weight in gold.'Nuff Said.Slan Agus Beannacht.

This is all LIVE Rory, I already had the first 3 albums, but that didn't bother me, I have just about EVERYTHING Rory recorded, CD's and DVD's, I cannot stress enough how great this guy was, everything is fresh, punchy, bluesy, rock, Rory covered just about every genre of music, I don't think there was a stringed instrument he couldn't play and boy oh boy could he play, his slide work is beyond compare. I got hooked after buying Live In Europe at Easter 2012 - how the hell did I manage to miss this guy??? I rave about him to everyone, if you want a treat buy this box set, failing that buy ANYTHING by Rory Gallagher, you won't be disappointed. His music is as fresh, alive and vital as the day he laid down the tracks in the studio or gave 110% on stage. Rory Gallagher was and is a genius. BUY THIS BOX SET!!!

ロリー・ギャラガーと言うギタリストの真骨頂はライヴにこそ有ったと言う事が良く理解出来るライヴの名盤3枚+1枚。LPで聴き込んだ世代から「ロリー・ギャラガーって、誰？」と言う世代まで、このBOXセットで納得出来るだろう。ただし・・・何故かCD盤面のプリントと、内容が食い違っている（まさか私だけ？）「LIVE IN EUROPE」の中身が「STAGE STRUCK」「IRISH TOUR」の中身が「LIVE IN EUROPE」「STAGE STRUCK」の中身が「IRISH TOUR」と、全部が入れ替わっている・・・盤面のミスプリントとしては、あまりに盛大すぎる（苦笑）まあ、それを差し引いても評価は下がらないし、ある意味「ミスプリント盤」と言う事がマニア心をくすぐるのだが（笑）

ロリーのようにすでにあの世に行かれてしまった神様級の方々の作品は、同時代的成長をしたものならいざ知らず、この世のロック若造達にとっては一緒くたに経験するしかにゃい。若造達！絶対買いだぞ！ギターで叫ぶっ！の体験出来まっせ！アイルランドのブルース野郎にとってはこのような素晴らしいセットで黄泉がえりをしていただけるというのは死んでもいや本当に蘇生してしまうかもしれないぐらい嬉しいはず。ロリーに限らず神様級の音源は膨大であるのでこのような正しいセットは整理する手間が省けるという意味からも助かる！　とともに遺族にとってもまとまったブツが入るわけで幸せなのではないだろうか。失礼かなぁ・・・・
