This product is useful to wrap your solar cover when it is off the water surface and rolled up on the reel in order to reflect sunlight. In turn, your solar cover will not be subject to excessive heating which can reduce the effectiveness/life of your solar cover. This cover had a nice texture and thickness. My previous cover's thickness & texture was not much more than a glorified long white plastic garbage bag. This one is not as thick as a tarp, but because it is white on one side/light grey on the other, it will keep your solar cover from heating up and breaking down like a dark colored tarp could do. It's light weight also makes it easy to handle and store. I did not use the Velcro tape as I've used 5 bungee chords to hold it on the reel & cover in the past and that method ensures that it won't blow off in a strong wind.

Like the quality of this cover very much. It's thicker mil than the cheap ones that come with the solar blanket and I think it will hold up for a long time with some care. I ordered the 18' cover for my 18' wide pool/solar blanket and it just barely covers the entire roll. If I had it to do over, I would have ordered the next longer size (20' I think). One other nit-picky thing is that only two velcro straps are supplied with the cover. They are about 9" long and I suppose you could cut them in half to give you four straps but I always over-engineer things and would want more. I use six bungee cords on mine. The width and the velcros are the reasons for the four star rating -- the cover itself gets five!

The cover itself is good. I ordered an 18 foot cover for a 16 foot solar cover, so it is long enough in case the solar cover doesn’t roll up perfectly even. My complaint is the velcro. I put one piece on and figured I had dropped the other piece along the way. I later found out that you are supposed to cut the velcro into smaller pieces. I would recommend that the company either cut it into several pieces or pre-install it on the cover, as trying to stick the velcro on evenly while the cover is on the reel is nearly impossible.

After researching so many covers that had bad ratings, I figured I'd by the cheapest since I only expected it to last a year in the Arizona sun anyway. Imagine the cheapest tarp you can find (Walmart) and this is half the thickness, very cheap. But it comes with an 8-inch-long piece of Velcro! wooohoo! If I spent $10, I'd be alright, not worth $20.

I owned this manufacturer's protective cover for my solar pool blanket for nine years and it was a high quality product that was flexible and had a gray backing. When it finally began to deteriorate, I repurchased this product. What I received was of a lessor quality than the old one. This is a single sheet piece of white plastic that is rather stiff and awkward to use. It will do the job of protecting your solar pool blanket so I gave it 3 stars but I would not have purchased this had I been aware of the quality. Of interest to note is that a review in 2020 references the gray backing that this product had in the past so it appears that the change in construction occurred after 2020.

Does job and was reasonable. We like it. Time will tell if lengthens life of cover...

For all the people who complain about these pool covers rotting, you need a pool cover cover - the white Poly Tarp Swimming Pool Solar Blanket Protective Cover.I know it a rip as they used to come with them. But I get 5+ years when I use it every time I roll it up on the reel.
