Techni Mobili Sharper Image Foldable Cooling Laptop Table (RTA-SI2010)

I bought this even with the somewhat shoddy reviews its received, but they are not true! This has locks to keep the legs in the open position, very stable, and the legs click into place when you fold them back up underneath, although not quite as sturdy as the locks to keep the legs open, it works rather nicely, YES, it is plastic, but I don't see ever having a problem with it, it feels well made, especially when you fold it all up nice and neat and hide it away somewhere. There is nothing to keep it in the flat unfolded position, but thats fixed simply by angling the stand slightly up, it will not fold up when the stand is tilted! I have a 15" Macbook Pro, and it is flirting with the upper edge of being too big for the stand, defiantly meant for a smaller notebook, would not recommend for use with a heavy duty gaming laptop. but its so darn convent that I don't mind the size at all, I still have access to the cup holder and mouse pad, so I'm happy. Note of warning though, when using the USB fans that are built in, they work off of your laptops usb power supply, if you have other usb powered devices, such as an internet card or a hard drive, they might not work because the fan is drawing off too much of the power, I don't see it being a problem with thumb drives though, although I have not tried them. Still, excellent product, and fast shipping!

The product is not very sturdy. It was made with the quality of the price so I guess it is fair. The legs do come out and hold up my laptop but it can be a little shaky at times. Also note that the fan cannot be operated unless the legs are pulled out with the lift up. This makes it impossible to use this flat surface as a flat surface when attempting to operate the fan in a seated position. There is no point of the fan being in the device because you cannot use it.

I just received this product today.My laptop heats up a lot and I use it a lot in bed or on the couch to do work. I thought this would be the perfect solution but unfortunately it has some design flaws.The lip that holds the laptop is not big enough and so my laptop just slips down anyways.You can only use the USB ports when the incline is up.When you unfold the table there is no locking mechanism to keep the table from folding again.The part where the laptop sits needs a non-slip surface.I really hate sending products back so I will probably try to alter it a bit to try and make it work for me. Such as putting on a few strips of non-slip material on the part where the laptop sits and figuring out a way to extend the lip to actually hold my laptop.The positive things are there is a place to use the mouse and the fans work great.Update 7/2013I have had a chance to give this product a try for a few months now. I am disappointed with it. I attached strips of velcro to my laptop and the tray so it would not slip and I would not have to use the lip. It worked for a short time but after removing the laptop a few times the velcro came off and needs a reapplication or a new solution. One of the legs locking piece will not stay locked and keeps collapsing. The cup holder does not hold any cups but oddly is perfect for a beer bottle. I am changing this from 3 stars to 2 stars.

would have been awsome, but a wire was broken to a fan motor, and only option given to me was a refund. I purchased it through the wharehouse, may be the reason.

First, lets start with what the product has to offer.It is fairly compact, light-weight well thought out product. Has notches to support the laptop, should easily hold a 17 inch laptop. Has a nice useable mousepad surface that works well. Has a cup holder and a pencil holder. 2 fans and a retractable mini-usb cable to power it with.The laptop can be angled up using a notch that is well built and can be adjusted. Similar the whole stand has 4 legs that can be adjusted to different height settingsWhere I think this product needs improvement.1. For my needs, this lap desk is still too bulky. The cup-holder and pen are good additions for a non-portable desk but seems like overkill for something designed for travel.I would ideally like something that was at most 17" wide with a pull out tray for the mouse.2. The lap desk cannot be used as intended when folded. I think this is a huge oversight, probably a glaring mistake. It needs to be opened fully for the adjustable laptop tilt to work.3. The legs cannot stay closed when you open the desk. Another huge oversight. If you open the lap desk but do not want to use the legs, they do not stay attached to the back. The start flopping around. This is because the legs attach to the tilt open part when closed and it has nothing to attached to when opened.I still give it for 4 stars since my asks are outside of what the product claimed it could do. What I need is a compact, uncomplicated lap desk. Maybe time to build one myself.Update 4/16/2012I ended up getting the Logitech Portable Lapdesk N315 instead. It does not have legs but does have a pull out mouse tray. It is very comfortable to use on the lap. No fans, but my laptop runs cooler than without a lap desk. the surface is nice and grippy and my laptop does not slide around. The biggest miss from my ask is that it does not raise my laptop to eye level but overall I'm happy with my purchase.
