Eliminates the need for external muffling
This is my 1st Evans head (I've always defaulted to Remo) and I'm very impressed! No more extraneous ringing! No more gaffer tape, or other crap to deaden the ring! I get that a "wetter" sound is sometimes desirable especially for outdoor or louder gigs - but I play inside 99% of the time where this "drier" sound is spot on. A crispier funk sound still happens when you want it depending on how tight you tune it and the right rim crack. If you're addicted to the drier snare sound of some of the studio greats of the 70's (Steve Gadd & others) like I am - then this is your snare head. Now I'm very interested in checking out other Evans heads!

Saved my Brady snare drum from going to eBay!
I recently bought a Brady Jarrah ply snare drum and was very disappointed initially. There were some nasty overtones that wouldn't go away, and no matter what I did or what heads I tried, I couldn't get it to sound right. So I started doing some digging on the internet and several people recommended this particular head for a Brady snare drum. Simply put, I can see why. My Brady sounds unbelievably good now (I can't even tell you how nice it is), and there are no harsh overtones anymore. It's just a beautiful, beautiful snare drum with perfect, fat, focused tone. So if you have a Brady and are unhappy with it, PLEASE try this head before you consider getting rid of it! It has really made all the difference. This head would probably have the same effect on lots of other snares out there too. Anyway, just wanted to share that in case I can help somebody else! Shipping was super fast too.

Can't Say Enough About This Head
Evans hit it out of the park with this one. Easy tuning, super durable and the tone is out if this wold. I have one on my 13 x 6 Pork Pie Little Squealer, my 14 x 5.5 Gretsch Maple and my modified 14 x 5.5 Gretsch Birch were I added a 42 strand and the old school Gretsch internal damper. I won't put any other head on my snares.

Not just for Snare Drums
I'vee been using the 14" Genera Dry heads on my snare drums but was having a rough time with my 12" rack tom. I made the move and I'm glad I did. This cuts the ring down significantly and for recording it's a dream come true.

My go to for years.
This has been my favorite snare head for about a decade now. It has a great short, dry pop when cranked tight yet sounds very fat when tuned a little lower without much overtone or “boing”.

Just that extra something better than a Remo Powerstroke 3
I'd give it 5 stars if they would put a ring around it and make it look as pretty as a Remo Powerstroke 3. It's almost the same sound as the PS3, but it has that extra little percentage of something that made everyone in my house agree that this is "the one" for my Gretsch Catalina Maple snare. It's just the one I've been chasing all this time. It has the perfect amount of overtone control and muffling without sounding excessively dead, and it delivers my ideal snare drum sound as a guy who grew up programming drums with synths instead of playing the real thing. It sounds great from the drum throne, and it sounds great recorded. I'm not sure how it would do in a live venue, as I never play live gigs. I am a cave hermit whose drums never leave the studio.I will be playing this head on this snare forever, and I have no idea what I'm going to do with my pile of Remo heads that have become obsolete.I really hate D'Addario on general principals, and I hate Evans for their stupid logo with D'Addario emblazoned all over it, but sometimes a man has to set his pride aside and play the head that sounds the best. That would be the Evans Genera Dry coated head.

the ONLY snare head you'll ever need
i've been playing for 15 years, and it took me 10 years to find the perfect head.Ever since then, i've only been buying these bad boys.Get it. crank it up pretty tight, and the vents allow the snare to breathe. You won't find a better head than this one.Oh. and they hold up for a very long time (years). I have never broken one and i play pretty heavy.(Ps there is a difference in the genera and the genera HD... just be aware of what you're buying, because they sound and feel totally different)

Evans, awesome as usual
I switched to Evans drum heads back in the 90's and haven't looked back since.I always have a great experience with Evans; the heads sit flat on my bearing edges break in and tune easily and stay that way with only touch ups needed for different rooms. I've never had a warped head or a hoop pull out of an Evans head unlike other brands I've used. I've even put them on entry level kits and made them sound like much more expensive ones! This particular head, I applied with a hazy 200 snare side head and PureSound 30 strand wires. The drum is 13" brass piccolo snare I use to get a dry, clean pop snare sound out of with minimal EQ. It works great!
