A great book for beginners
Part one of this book, The Case for Solitaries, is short but gives a brief background of the religion, covens, and solitaries. Part two is the rest of the book and deals with solitary practice. It discusses tools, consecration of tools, rituals, sabbats, divination, solitary ethics, and a few other key things. This is a great resource for people new to witchcraft. It covers a little bit of all the basics and will continue to be a great reference in future studies.

Such a great book for starting out
This is a great book to turn to if you want to know how you can do your own thing but gain inspiration to make your own way of life and rituals. Has great information about the history of wicca. If you are just starting out on your journey, I highly recommend this book!

I was particularly pleased to see that Mr
I was particularly pleased to see that Mr.Buckland had written this book as I know he does much with covens. I also appreciated his realistic pro's and con's about Solitary versus Coven practitioners of the Craft. It was his honesty, knowledge , and fore sight that I liked best in this book. I also absorbed what he felt Solitaries should and shouldn't be about and the way he gave historical background concerning the Solitary Witchcraft of ages past. After reading this I felt much more secure in regards to being a Solitary practitioner in my Pagan path. For that I thank him.

Perfect for the solo witch in your life.
If you're interested in Wicca, and either don't have a coven or group to join, or just simply prefer not to, this book is for you. I've read books by Raymond Buckland in the past, and I really like his style, because he doesn't use a lot of filler, and gets right to the point, while also providing copious amounts of valuable information.

Good book
Long time readers of the Journal will remember that I have a really soft spot in my heart for Raymond Buckland, mainly because he's the founder of my tradition of Wicca. I have a lot to thank him for and a lot to credit him for.Don't get me wrong, I don't believe that he can do no wrong. But I do believe that he gets it right more often than not. This book, however, tends to be a rehash of many of his other books. The only thing that sets this one apart is that it is developed specifically for those who are solitary. All the information in this book has been published before in books such as The Tree and Buckland's Complete Guide to Witchcraft. However, those books, while being excellent sources of information, tend to be centered for those who are going toward covens. This book is modified specifically for those who will be practicing in their own backyards without others to practice with them.I'm giving this a really high score since it has a lot of good information for you and is something that solitary practitioners should have in their library. But I'm also going to advise you all that if you have The Tree and Buckland's Complete Guide to Witchcraft you may want to skip purchasing this unless you have the extra money.I think that this is the logical next step to purchase after Cunningham's books "Living Wicca" and "Wicca, a Guide for the Solitary Practitioner". If those are your only exposure to solitary practice, then you need to buy this book.

Book review
This book was very informative. I liked how it explained things in a precise many. Was easy to read and easy to understand. Very helpful to a beginning witch investigating the craft.

Good book. I'd recommend for anyone who's seriously interested in the subject.
This is a great book for a beginner like myself, but, I think it offers something for more experienced folks as well. It's well written and covers a lot of topics well enough without dwelling on anything for too long. I also like his little jabs at the showoffs that taint the image of all witches.

Wonderful and Exciting
I love this book and all that it has to teach me... it is a beautiful way of life that is natural and logical... It reminds me of the Native American Indian spirituality - a way of living natural in balance with nature... I would never part with this book, it has become part of my life and I highly recommend it to any open-minded person looking for answers and truths...

It is a good book lots of information and terrific for a newbie
It is a good book lots of information and terrific for a newbie. I don't see the point of solitaries doing ritual. That is me however anyone who wanted to do that would find this a great book. Maybe it should get 5 stars and me get 4 for buying the wrong book lol
