POW! ZAP! WOW! Digitally remastered reissue of the1966 Nelson Riddle TV soundtrack album. Both swingin' & campy, it features the hit TV theme along with original incidental music and dialog from the show. To the Batmobile - let's go!

This is a straight re-issue of the 1966 original
This is just a straight re-issue of the original - even the liner notes are the same. It would have been nice to have more music, more soundbites, &c.Don't get me wrong - it's a fun listen, and if you like the TV show you'll enjoy this. Unfortunately, the entire disc clocks in at 23 minutes, and at Amazon's current (11/12/14) price of $11.99, I don't think it's worth it. If you don't have to have this right now, I'd suggest waiting until you can find it for a better price. But then again... you know how on the TV show they have the WHAM! ZAP! POW! on the screen during the fight scenes whenever someone gets punched? Well, this being audio, they have the characters actually SAYING the sound effects as they fight. And, y'know, that might be worth the price of admission by itself. Here's the track listing. 1. Batman Theme 2. Batman Riddles the Riddler!--Or--(Hi Diddle Riddle) 3. Batusi A-Go! Go!--Or--(I Shouldn't Wish To Attract Attention) 4. Two Perfectly Ordinary People--Or--(!!!!) 5. Holy-Hole-in-the-Doughnut--Or--(Robin, You've Done It Again!) 6. Batman Pows The Penguin--Or--(Aha, My Fine-Feathered Finks!) 7. To the Batmobile 8. Batman Blues 9. Holy Flypaper 10. Batman Thaws Mr. Freeze--Or--(That's the Way the Ice-Cube Crumbles!) 11. Gotham City 12. Zelda Tempts Batman--Or--(Must He Go It Alone????)

Replaced the cassette tape
I had this on cassette tape years ago but I sold it. Just spent a week binge watching the series and decided to get the CD. It sounds just like the tape. Doesn't sound like they did anything to it to make it sound better on the CD.I still don't understand their choice of villain voices. The Riddler great. But Zelda instead of Catwoman? Mr. Freeze instead of the Joker?

Great but not enough
This is one part fantastic two parts disappointment. The fundamental problem, as others here have stated is a running time of just 24 minutes, which means it’s about one quarter what is should be, but at full price. However, as a re-issue I believe, from an originally short vinyl release decades ago this is hardly the music company’s fault, but you're buying a time capsule rather than a modern retrospective. With just twelve tracks, many with dialogue interspersed among the thematic pieces (a format that was made hugely popular with the Pulp Fiction soundtrack) which of course this predates by many years, you're still not getting a lot. In fact, with it’s campy undertones and lounge zaniness this disc better serves as backdrop for a retro drinks party or camp soirée, rather than the soundtrack for a groundbreaking show that ran to three series. With modern considerations, the disc would also have worked better if it were mixed and mastered with the dialogue and music separated - as the better soundtracks are, allowing us to appreciate the musical elements alone. But in the end, the paucity of content makes this a moot point.Of course, as the cover attests the classic soundbites are a big draw, but it’s the omissions that are disappointing. I really, really, wanted the eerie music that features when Catwoman’s (the purr-fect Julie Newmar) plots her more nefarious schemes. Not here. Not even close. In fact, Newmar’s voice is entirely free from this disc, as is Caesar Romero’s as the Joker - arguably the two biggest guest villain performers. Maybe it was a licensing problem? As such this disc serves only as a light introduction to the classic TV series and it’s surprising that no other company such as LaLa Land has stepped in and given this classic TV series the soundtrack it deserves.Having said all of that, this is still a great soundscape for the show that every fan will appreciate. Let's just hope it's given the proper treatment in the not too distant future.

Not a bat review
This LP was a must-have in the Batmania era.If VHS, DVD or streaming existed back in 1966, this dialogue album probably would have never been made. That said, the TV series was not released on home video for many years because of a dispute between 20th Century Fox Television and Warner Brothers. It's a great piece of nostalgia. The LP jacket alone is a must-have.
