Good for beginners acrylic painting.

The canvas sizes used in most of the "demonstrations" would never be attempted by the average beginner, they are far too large an undertaking. Also they are full of technique with no explanation of why you are doing it.Sorry found most of this book well over my head and whilst something I aspire to, do not feel this book would ever get me there.Charles Evans books are far more useful and encouraging for the beginner.That said, a good book I am sure for more accomplished artists, apart from the useless diy projects...why would you ever want to?

Whilst the book seems to have some useful information, the first thing that put me off was the size of the book. Too small and the pages seemed small and compressed. Not great.Not sure of the logic in which the variations sections are arranged and I found it a bit of an uncomfortable read,Seemed quite a lot of filler for me. Maybe some people want to be able to stretch their own canvass', or make their own easel. I want to learn about painting.

I am an experienced oil painter but I am forced through circumstance (fumes and mess) to start painting in Arylics paints instead. This book is an excellent guide to using this medium. Other reviews complain that there is "filler" material in this book but I did not find this the case at all. It is very reasonably priced and a mine of information. An excellent buy.

So I actually love this book! It’s literally packed full with helpful tips and guides to certain painting techniques. This has helped me so much that I often find myself flicking through it before starting a new painting. It’s a good book to have ready if you need it and would make a lovely gift.

I have been looking for a beginners guide to painting in Acrylics, and after reading the reviews decided to give it a go. It exactly what I was looking for.Lots of tips and information, very prectical ways of moving forward on a budget too.Would recommend this book.
