Quality & Safety
Sizing (from the accompanied booklet-- just to save you time):XS, Head Circumference: 19.5- 19 7/8 in. or 50- 51 cm.S, Head Circumference: 20 1/4- 20 3/4 in. or 52-53 cm.M, Head Circumference: 21 1/8- 21 1/2 in. or 54-55 cm.L, Head Circumference: 21 7/8- 22 1/4 in. or 56- 57 cm.XL, Head Circumference: 22 5/8-23 7/8 in. or 58-61 cm.The sticker inside gives a manufactured date. This is super important when it comes to the safety and life of the helmet. My helmet is only 4 months old. It is SEI certified... but it is made in China. Yet, this might be some of China's best work. Had me fooled completely with the quality. I am not sure if any of the other helmets out there are American made. But now you know.Structure- SOLID. There is zero exposed foam on the outside. There is no electrical tape type hem because everything is covered in some kind of hefty suede material below the shell. I think this should ensure longevity of the product against UV. The padding on the inside of the helmet (the top and the base of the skull) is removable for replacement or cleaning.... brow padding and padding around the crown is built in with the shell. Very thick (about an inch). The strap is typical nylon type material, but the chin and ear portions are covered in bonded leather and are very soft. Oh, and VERY well ventilated! It is pretty darn light for the sturdy construction. Comes with a helmet bag and some extra pads. Also, it comes with a nice instruction booklet and some warranty (6 month limited). And it has a accident replacement program for up to ONE year with a small fee+ S&H from the purchase date. You have 30 days from the date of purchase to register your product if you want to be in the program. So, don't forget to register. It must be faxed though... weird for me because I don't have a fax machine. So I am going to have to go out and find a place to fax. I will get the next size up after my daughter grows out of this one. It is worth the money. And for the safety, 60-70 bucks is nothing... worth saving the money.

Best helmet ever!
I love this helmet. I initially wanted a more classic looking schooling helmet, but after trying many on I discovered I had a round shaped head... most of the helmets I tried on were more for oval shaped heads which left room in the front and back. I reluctantly ordered this one, which is recommended for rounder heads. Right out of the box I fell in love with it. I got the cocoa colour and it almost looks black. The casing is so pretty and it's so sharp looking. I love the little Tipperary emblem patch at the front of the helmet. I work in the medical field and am so happy that this helmet comes down in the back, wrapping around the back of the skull. It's the only helmet I've come across that does this. I feel safe and secure in it. My head in 22 inches around and I ordered a medium. It's too snug with all the padding but if I take out the removable back pad and insert a mini pad in the front... absolutely perfect fit. It's so comfortable you forget it's there. Comes with customizable padding inserts, but I would say around 22 inches is the max circumference a medium would fit. Comes with a dust cover that you can sling over your shoulder.

Comfortable, good airflow, cradles skull securely
Sooo much more comfortable than the Ovation helmet I was using before! The Ovation's dial tightening system always felt like it was digging into the back of my skull, and I felt like if I was in a bad fall it could actually do some damage because of where it sat at the base of my skull.I bought the Tipperary based on recommendations at the Chronicle of the Horse forums, and I'm glad I did. It's much more comfortable and it feels like it properly cradles and protects my skull instead of creating pressure points. I like that it covers the occipital bone, and so far it feels like it has good airflow and stays cool (we've only gotten up to the low 90s here in upstate NY though; we'll see what I think after moving to TX this summer lol). All in all, well worth the money in my opinion.

Great helmet for people with large, oval heads.
I have a large, oval head and was having an awful time finding a helmet that would fit me. Problem solved. It wasn't a perfect fit right out of the box, but the additional padding that comes with it made it easy to adjust the fit, and now it's so comfortable I just put it on when I get out of my car at the barn, and take it off when I get back in the car. The rest of the time I've got it on, and I barely notice it's there.

LOVE THIS HELMET!
Fits perfect! Very comfortable and is vented well. I haven't bought a helmet in years and when I looked at the label on my Troxel it was from 1998! It was still in perfect condition however I liked the reviews on this helmet and went ahead and ordered 1. Very comfortable, absolutely love the color and fits well. I got some compliments on it when we did this beach ride in Nags Head NC. It came quickly & arrived in its original Box, I love the fact that it also came with a bag to store it in my tack room.

Very nice helmet
Appears to be good quality and I hope never to test its protection capabilities. One concussion and cracked helmet from a fall is enough. I like the available adjustments to the V around the ears to get a good fit. The chin strap fits well and the snap is much easier to use without looking than the one on my previous helmet. There are lots of air vents. I love the color and it is just as shown in the photo. My previous helmets have been size medium but I had to get a large for this one to fit and it's still a tad tight for my taste. It does come with inserts in case it is too large for you. Overall I like it very much and it's a reasonable price for a good helmet. I got it because you should replace a helmet every 4-5 years and I noticed the interior padding in my old one was getting pretty hard.
