There is simply no reason to buy a DD120. The DD130 costs nearly the same and support two lower range frequencies with better propagation. I was baited into buying this because the listing only offers a DD120 kit..... buy from a different listing that gets you a DD130 + transponder.

I have a person in mind for whom I got this. I opened the package. It was used !! The device was put back in the box with instructions. The instructions were even a mess; they were not placed in any protective packaging to prevent damage. Just put it in the box; even the box that it was shipped in was barely together. It drives NUTS that this happens so often. This is a $ 923.00 unit, not a $ 10.00 unit. I do not know how it will work until my friend, whom I got it for, uses it. I will decide whether to send it back or not after it is tested to see if it works. It was returned for a reason.

Works good on buried electric conductors.... you need transmitter for attaching to tracer lines to locate anything else.

The Leica Digicat 550i is a great tool for finding underground pipe.

It does work BUT The transmitter that comes with this kit DOES NOT do the two lower frequencies. It looks like it has the option since it has indicator LEDs on the unit but you need the other model for them to actually work. That said it does 8 and 33kHz well. The 60Hz passive detection is useless. It takes so long for it to "detect it you will be 5' past the line before it ever beeps. (if it even does) I was hoping that would work better and allow me to find power cable without using the TX but no way.

I bought this because we are landscapers and have cut too many Verizon/Spectrum/etc cables. This doesn't seem to help, on any setting. If finds gas lines and other stuff... but not telecom cables.
