sturdy pet crate pad
I bought this for the dog house mainly for the winter since my dog stays outdoors during the day. It doesn't get super-cold where I live so I just wanted something that would provide a little padding to keep the dog a bit warmer. On warm days, he'll just pull it out of the dog house, lay it on the patio, and sit on it since it's pretty soft. It is as thin as it looks but it definitely reflects a lot of heat. (I tested it by putting my hand on it.)Pros:1) The slits at the corners helps to keep most of the pad flat.2) Very durable. When not sitting/lying on it, my dog likes to run around with the pad in his mouth. It's been awhile and still not a single tear.3) Holds up very well in washer and dryer. There are little circular bumps at the bottom of the pad that a lot of products will design in for grip against the resting surface. I don't really care for them and I don't think it really works. I have seen crate pads that had these and with each washing, a bunch of the bumps came off and made a mess in the dryer. Not with this pad!Cons:Because it's light and very foldable, it's easy for my dog to pull it out of the dog house and I have to keep putting it back in. But this is more an issue with my dog's habit so I would still highly recommend the product.

Crate Mat, Yes. ...Warming, No.
The K&H Self-Warming Pet Crate Pad was a very disappointing product, though nicely made. I had ordered it in hopes of adding a bit more warmth for a friendly but timid outdoor feral cat that seems to have adopted us; we've set up shelter for her in the backyard. The "warming" effect of the K&H pad was so slight as to be unnoticeable. I had also ordered a different self-warming mat (the Slumber Pet Thermal Cat Mat), one I've used before with my indoor cats, but was concerned the slight crinkly noise the Slumber Pet mat makes would scare the timid feral right out of her new insulated outdoor cat house.I did a pseudo-scientific side-by-side comparison at my kitchen table, using just the warmth of my hands, one hand placed on each mat for 1 minute. The winner was undeniable. The K&H crate mat was just a mat; I didn't feel any heat building while my hand was in place, and any warmth from my hand was gone from the mat almost as soon as I lifted my hand. The Slumber Pet mat was impressive; my hand started feeling warmer while resting on the mat. After the 1 minute was up, I could feel a definite warm spot where my hand had been, and the warmth remained for a short while after removing my hand as well.Cat-testing revealed I could have skipped my own test. Three of three indoor cats preferred the Slumber Pet warming mat. The feral kitty happily nestled on her Slumber Pet Warming Mat as soon as I put it in her house, and she didn't care about the faint crackly noise it made. When she comes running out of her house to greet us, she is toasty warm. That's the most important part.I will be returning the K&H mat. Sorry, K&H.

Doggie likes it :)
I put this under my kitchen table. My little 5 lb. toy fox terrier likes to be hidden and out of the way, especially with my 18 month old very active child. This gives her a softer place to lay while I am in the kitchen (she often follows), and is out of the way. She will often go to it on her own, and lay their with her mini-ball. The material is really soft. I will also place this is the kennel, if I have to use it, which is very rare, and it gives it a nicer base to her little round bed which doesn't take up the entire kennel floor, as opposed to the cold plastic. It covers a little bit of the sides too. The slits on the corners of the mat are nice for the kennel because it molds easily to the kennel shape, which is an inch or too shorter and narrower than this bed - so, this mat provides a little soft edge on the wall of the kennel too, and I like that so if she lays and stretches out and rolls to one side, she is not up against the cold plastic. As for warmth, I don't know if it specifically keeps her warm, but our floors are laminate so I am sure it is warmer and softer than the floor.

Senior pup loves
this soft pad that helps to preserve her body heat in our drafty quarters. Honestly, any fabric like fleece works as well, but must say that this is brilliant in capturing potty accidents. Easy to launder, fast drying.

Dogs love it
I got this mat to make my dogs comfy when they needed to be in their crates. It was getting chilly so I thought they'd enjoy it. They like it more than I thought they would. My dachshund drags his from the crate and carts it off to wherever he wants to lay in the house and plops down. From what I can tell the mat goes cold within seconds after the dog steps off of it. I've put my foot on it when the dogs were laying on it and it was warm like a decent blanket. I bought the 20x25 for 12.00 and was going to buy a larger one for them to lounge on but the price hiked so I think I'll pass. It's a good mat to get if you see it on sale again though.

Did it's job, but dog don't like it.
Bought this to help my dog stay warm this past winter. It does warm up slightly upon contact. My dog slept with it for about a week, then she wouldn't go near it. Every time I put it in her house she wouldn't go in it. I wound up giving her a regular blanket. It does have a wrinkle noise it makes. Maybe, she didn't like that. The cat wound up sleeping on it! She loved it. Noise didn't bother her.

This pad is super easy to clean
This pad is super easy to clean, and the slits in the corners makes it fit nicely into kennels. It is really soft, and has held up well after many, many washes (I wash it every week). It isn't very plush, which is probably why it washes so well, but my dog likes to lay on it. I recommend this pad to anyone who likes easy washing and soft materiel for their animals to lay on.

Nice pad
So far it is keeping my dog warm in her kennel and she leaves it alone - no digging or scratching around with it. Much better than using a pillow and I didn’t want electronics.

Thinner than expected
This is much thinner than I expected. It’s difficult to really tell if it actually warms up any. I wish it was a little more plush for my pup.
