Very bright
I bought a set of these for my 96 Honda Accord as high beam lights because with some extremely minor modification to the tabs on the plastic base (NOT the car) they can be used as a replacement for a stock 9005 bulb. The bulb pulls the same amount of power as a 9005 and has the filament in the same place so reflectors still work as intended but because of the design of the bulb itself it is able to drive the filament hotter and brighter than the 9005 bulb. (Apparently this is enough of a difference that it has to be listed as a separate bulb type!) I had a hard time getting into the headlight housings on my car so it took me a while to get them installed. I finally got them in about 7 months ago and have been very happy with them. Light is difficult to compare subjectively but they are extremely bright and white and light up farther down and alongside the road than the stock bulbs I replaced (which may have been very old and worn and overdue for replacement anyway...... hard to say, I got them with the car.) On the whole I am extremely happy with the bulbs and would recommend them as a bright light alternative to a standard 9005 bulb. I would also recommend them over higher driven, highly expensive 9005 bulbs especially ones with a blue tint to the glass (why tint a bulb to eliminate part of the light it is putting out already?). If you are looking for a white light as opposed to yellow these produce a very white light. My experience as someone who sells the higher driven, tinted bulbs at my place of work indicates they have a badly reduced lifespan due to being overdriven. Personally however I chose not to, and would not recommend the similar conversion from 9006 to the 9012 bulb on the low beams, unless you are willing to make SURE your lights are aimed correctly and the lenses are clear and free from defects, just because of the high amount of light being put out. Blinding oncoming drivers does not increase your safety at all.

Much brighter than the stock 9005 bulb
I bought my Maxima brand new in July of 2007. Loved almost everything about it - except I felt the headlights were extremely weak. So weak that at times I wondered if the lights were even on! I bought the base model so it did not have HID lights - just standard halogen. Anyway, now that the car is over 6 years old, I really felt like I had to do something. The night visibility was worse than ever and it even felt unsafe. So after some painstaking research, I was able to determine that the 9011 bulb would fit my 2007 Maxima with a very minor modification to the upper tab of the bulb. Easily done with large nail clippers - just remove a portion of the plastic (many tutorials online). In fact, some of the 2007 and earlier model year Maximas actually used the 9012 bulb. But the 2008 and post March 2007 build 07 models used the lowly 9005L bulb from Sylvania. A very poor choice in my opinion as the light output is extremely weak. I have not driven it much at night since the bulb swap - but on the test drive right after installing the 9011 bulbs, I immediately could tell a difference in light output. A definite and significant difference! This is unlike when I tried switching to SilverStars on other cars I owned - and noticed no real difference in light output. The 9011 is definitely an improvement - highly recommended. I just have to see how long they will last. Even if I get a couple of years out of them, at the price they sell for on Amazon, it's no big deal. Probably the next best thing to true HID.

Upgrade for Acura MDX
I purchased both the 9011 and the 9012 HIR bulbs for installation in the Acura MDX, I must say that this is an impressive cheap and easy upgrade to the standard OEM light bulbs. The area where we live is deer infested and our family has hit 3 deer in 2 years. We need good quality lighting to see the road ahead and off to the side into the bushes / ditches. The light produced is white and not bluish, the bulbs are not coated. Very good rain / light fog penetration, have not yet experienced heavy fog so I cannot speak to reflected light. How long will they last? I dunno, but today I am VERY happy with my purchase. You'll be impressed at the improvements too. Renron

Faulty bulbs
Both bulbs blew out after 10 months of use. I don't do much driving at night, so they had very few hours on them. Philips also doesn't warranty them if purchased here.

Lasted Only 1 Year
I didn’t notice these to be “that much” brighter than my stock halogen lights. They are brighter but the difference was negligible, I wasn’t like wow these are great. Also after exactly 1 year, I purchased these on 10/22/24, I have to buy another light because my right side burned out. I would have hoped to get more than one year out of a bulb.

Amazing bulbs! My 16 Dodge Charger takes 9005 bulbs ...
Amazing bulbs! My 16 Dodge Charger takes 9005 bulbs for the projectors and I read about the 9005 to HIR 9011 swap. All I had to do to make them fit is trim the plastic tabs on the bulb, 5 minutes with a dremel and they were installed. The first time driving at night I was amazed. I've tried lots of different bulbs including silverstars and these Philips 9011 blow them all out of the water. No they don't have the white color like the silverstars but they are more whiter looking than a regular halogen. These shine much brighter and farther and along with my stock LED fog lights it makes the performance almost as good as HID's. Highly recommended!!

Good 9011 bulb
I bought 2x 9011 bulbs to replace 9005 high beams- just sand down part of a tab and it's the same bulb with better light output. I don't know if it's because of the spec difference, the age of the old bulbs, or perhaps both, but it made a huge difference in the brightness of my high beams.
