Works, But is Not What is Shown in the Picture
I like the style that is shown in the picture, they are nice and small, unlike most of the Platypus brand that you might see in the stores. I ordered these specifically for their size based on the picture shown. The difference is in the female end. In the picture, it shows the female end to be about one inch in length. What I received, I could have picked up from REI, the two, to two and a half inch long female ends. There function is not really impeded by this extra length, but it does make it harder for me to use my custom male end with a massive female end.For only the reason that I did not receive what was shown in the picture I gave it a low rating. It does not fit my needs, although the functionality is fine for 99% of people, I needed what was shown in the picture.

perfect fit for our Platypus Gravity Works filter kit
perfect fit for our Platypus Gravity Works filter kit, where we used it to add a quick-disconnect between filter and clean water bag. The resulting system drips almost no water when disconnected, even when the dirty bag is full. Of course you still have to use the pinch valve that comes with the filter kit to control outflow from the clean bag

Just in case
I purchase this part partly as a repair part in the event these parts should fail. Another reason is this part could be used to modify another brand of hydration system to make it compatible with my platypus hydration system. Most brands have parts (excluding the hose/tubing) which are not compatible with other brands.

Works great
I use this with the MSR Hydration Kit and DromLite Water Carrier by MSR in a frame bag on my bike. This quick disconnect makes it easy to remove and refill the bladder during races. I wish it were cheaper, but other than that it works great.

Great Kit for for extending/modifying tubes
These quick disconnects from Platypus work great; of course, all Platypus stuff is good. I used these specifically to make a longer tube for certain uses. When I am hiking/ATV riding I connect the standard size tube. When I am out in my Jeep Wrangler, I can hook up a longer tube to easily pull up and drink from while the bladder/pack hangs behind my seat. You'll probably need a couple of these. Great Work Platypus!

Perfect for Platypus connections.
Works perfect, just as expected. Bought these for a Platypus bladder connection to a water filter. This connection makes the water filter process really quick. I wish I could find caps to just dead-end so the tip doesn't get dirty. I really like these and have used them for months without any problems.Plan to buy again if I need another setup.

Appalachian Trail Winner
The small increase in price is well worth it for the shutoff valve. Having a wet pack is inconvenient in summer, but can be dangerous in winter hiking. This was an upgrade I made after my first shakedown hike before the Appalachian Trail.

I love these disconnects
I love these disconnects. I have my entire hiking water system setup so that I can interchange bit valves and refill my water bladder without removing it from my pack. Can be a little expensive to set everything up, but well worth the ease of use when in the woods.

Does what it says on the tin!
Does what it says on the tin! But remember if you're making up a refill kit for your rucksack you'll need TWO of at least one side! These things mean you fit your hydration once, no need to keep stretching open the gap in your rucksack, where water will start getting in. These are good quality items.

Does just what it should.
Easy to fit and use. Fits into the drinking tube between the bladder and the mouthpiece and makes it easier to thread the tube through the rucksack outlet and to remove the bladder for refilling without disassembling everything. Just remember to make sure that the valve is properly pushed home and clipped in, otherwise you have a flooded rucksack!
