Very happy with this! I've ordered more!
I ordered two of these - one for my gas logs in our living room fireplace, and the second for the electric stove in our sunroom. I have to admit I had some hesitation about ordering after seeing some of the poor reviews. I am glad I did not listen to them. This little system is perfect! It works well even on the lowest volume in both rooms, and it sounds quite realistic. I can't help but wonder about some of the comments in the reviews, however. Several noted that the loop was very short, and that the sounds kept repeating themselves - frankly, if someone is listening to this THAT intently, perhaps they need something else to do! Other comments referred to the price, and complained that these were overpriced, but after looking at several other similar units, some of which were over $80, I was more than happy with what I paid for mine. In fact, I have another electric fireplace coming for my bedroom, and I have ordered another of these! My only suggestions for improving this would be 1) a remote would be wonderful; and 2) get rid of the tiny screw that holds the battery box closed!UPDATE: I have to add some additional praise for this seller. I ordered another for another electric fireplace/stove unit, and somehow FedEX managed to lose it. The seller contacted me in a matter of hours, and is sending me a replacement. Very much appreciated!

It Does what it says...
I purchased this the day after my husband bought me an electric fireplace for Christmas. Too bad that electric fireplaces arent all made with the crackling sound built in to them. Shipping was very fast. Battery compartment is easy enough to open with a small Philips head screwdriver. It does indeed sound like a fireplace to me and I like the crackling pop that it includes. I didn't notice that the sounds repeat frequently like others have said. Loud setting is way to loud and has a "rushing" sounding static in it. Medium is better but still too loud for our space as was Low...now if only low setting I could place it upside down on our carpet right in front of the fireplace the sound would seem more realistic as coming from the logs and muffled by the carpet on Low is just right. But since you can't do that and up behind a picture or even in the storage along side the fireplace makes it obvious that the sound is coming from too high up. So after reading reviews of similar complaints I took the advice of what others have posted and I put tape over the speaker. NOW the sound on the Low setting is perfect- even with it p laced in the cubbie right above the top of the fireplace that holds our cable box. So glad people posted about the tape. I used masking tape but I'm sure the use of electrical tape would make it even quieter.

Works fine
It does what is supposed to do...sounds like a crackling fire, so I shouldn't complain. It just seems very cheaply made and much too expensive for what it is.

Great Addition to My Electric Fireplace
I bought this as one of those "often bought together" deals and I'm really glad I did. This is really a nifty little gadget that I had no idea even existed. I purchased a fireplace type space heater and instead of listening to the fan blow the heat around thought this would add a sense of realism and it certainly does. I had a bit of trouble removing the tiny screw in the back to install the batteries but that was it. There are no instructions to read or follow, just push the button. It appears to me that this is the recorded sound of an actual fireplace and it's very difficult to determine where the sound starts to repeat. Alone in a room I found even the low setting annoying so I simply put a piece of cloth over the speaker to muffle the sound a bit and make it more natural. In a larger room with conversation occurring I'm quite sure one of the three settings would be sufficient for any occasion.

Good sound, good value
The media could not be loaded. There are 3 volume settings that change by pressing the button on the front. The on/off switch is on the back. It runs on 3 AAA batteries. I'm happy with the crackling effect it provides for my electric fireplace. I'd like to see the sound quality be improved to make it clearer or sharper, by using noise reduction in the future but I'd definitely buy it again! Its compact size allows you to hide it behind something. In the fireplace video, it's hidden just behind the white candle!

Only worked for 2 days - and not well at that.
I tried to like this. It didn't sound realistic at all - sort of sounded like someone crumpling paper over and over. I figured that would be okay -I mean, my fake Fireplace doesn't look 100% real either. Not expecting perfection. That being said, the sound just was sort of laughable, I don't understand why they wouldn't just record a real fire burning so at least it sounded somewhat realistic instead of the crumpling paper. Then, the batteries died in about 2 days - I had it less than 3 days and it was done. That was enough for me. I took the advice of another reviewer - and just hooked up an old device I had, stashed it behind the fireplace so you couldn't see it and put a Fireplace Youtube video on loop - and Voila!!! Best little fireplace ever - I love it! The YouTube video sounds very realistic - it's a recording of a real fire and it sounds like it. Yay!! Success! It might even be worth buying an old device on Ebay to do this with if you don't have one hanging around like I did. Just use it for this purpose and nothing else. And - the battery never runs down either if you just leave it plugged in. Big thanks to the person who suggested that little hack - I am so happy!!!
