Yes it shows your speed. It does not show remaining distance, only distance to the next "turn" or exit to next road. I think it shows current time too (but without running it up not certain. There are a few other display features that can be switched on too. However, Unit does need to be plugged in all the time as the battery life is dismal - if you're out of the car you need a power pack to keep it running. **Q: Will a garmin gtm traffic lead work with this for traffic updates instead of using a smart-phone?** A: Not in the UK after June 30 2021. It asks for town, then house number, then street. But if you just need to get to the town centre, there's no way to do that; it needs a specific street name, though not house number. So you have to guess for likely town-centre names (High Street, Station Road, Church Street etc), which when you're just trying to navigate town-to-town is a bit of a pain.The screen seems overly-sensitive to touch, so scrolling is very difficult; it keeps interpreting the touch as a click; same problem with zooming in/out.But, the navigation instructions are clear, and a big improvement on some systems. I'd personally like to see two turns ahead (i.e. arrow icon not just for the next junction, but the one after too).
