I love this brand of Midnight seed
Wow! The new coating helps a lot with germination. Three years ago I used another brand of Midnight when I completely restored my entire lawn and didn't have great germination. I tried this brand and had better luck. This year, I over-seeded bare spots after having to repair many areas due to sewer and downspout repairs in my yard. I ended up over-seeding the entire lawn in late August. The coating helps a lot! Yes, many complain the coating reduces the amount of seed you actually get, but I prefer the coated seeds, like the name brand expensive bluegrass seed that's coated seed for years now. I get better results with coated seed. Protects seed viability? Who knows. Yes it costs more, but the end results are what matters. Furthermore, many folks forget to use starter fertilizer. They forget to continue to use starter after the seed is slowly growing too. I do NOT! It's a must! I like to use the name brand starter in bare spots because it is finer and dissipates better in the ground, especially when only keeping seed moist. When over-seeding my established lawn, I use whatever, but still prefer the finer granular name brand starter fertilizer. Also keeping the seed moist and cooled off during high heat is a must too. We are in a moderate drought where I live in Ohio, but I've been watering. Many neighbors are shocked at my lawn and are asking me what to do now that it's fall. I told them what I do and the products I use. I've had 2 delivery gentleman ask me what I'm using after dropping off my packages. I'm mowing 2x per week, while most are still not mowing at all and haven't mowed in weeks. I highly recommend this product! This seed does take a bit to establish, like most bluegrass seed, so patience and dedication to the future is required. If over-seeding late fall/winter, I recommend not broadcasting crabgrass prevention until the last moment possible in spring. This seed has overwintered well for me here in Ohio. It's a gorgeous dark green color that's fairly disease resistant and drought tolerant considering bluegrass seed.

Great seed. Quick customer service response by seller to resolve an issue unrelated to seed germination results.
Great seed. It sprouted faster than I anticipated and is starting to fill in bare areas in the soil. Following up at the 3 week since planted mark, the young sprouts are almost ready to be mowed over without me taking care to prevent damage in those areas. I anticipated roughly a 30 day germination rate because bluegrass is typically slow to germinate. A lot of people forget that and negatively review KBG seed because of that. To help me determine when I should start seeing sprouts in the lawn, I placed some seeds in two small, clear plastic pot drains, covered with dirt, watered and placed on my kitchen window sill. The seeds sprouted faster in the pot drains than they did in my front lawn but they are now taking root and growing well. It's at a point where I can now shift my attention to the sides and rear of the property. Even got a text from a neighbor yesterday complimenting me on how well the front lawn is looking. The goal is to have the midnight KBG take over all areas with red fescue and mix in with the other KBG currently present. Again, I'm quite happy with the results thus far. This is an edit to my original rating. The original was still 5 stars based purely on my experience with the seed. I just ran into a problem trying to order additional bags from the seller. I contacted the seller and they responded in less than 24 hours, even though the SLA through Amazon is a standard 48 hours. That's a positive mark right there to beat the SLA in such a fashion. The seller also provided detailed reasons for why the challenge existed and offered a resolution. Because of these actions, I feel it necessary to publicly note the positive experience. I'll continue to do business with this seller.

Snake oil weeds with seed...
I've bought this seed 3 times. The first time I thought I did something wrong when prepping everything. I removed 20 yards of soil, brought in 32 yards of good soil and seeded, watered etc. Grass took forever to come in and was very patchy, filled with weeds and just a horrible product that asks for a premium. I've re did it another time and bought a third time to fill in patchy areas. One of the worst products I've ever used and I've been in landscaping business since 2011. I would not recommend this product.
