Q: Are you able to use regular grocery bags instead of the bags that come with it? I hate to spend extra money.

Grocery bags legit work perfect. I like them better than the bags that come with it because you can actually fit the whole base of the bag in the bottom of the tray. The bags it comes with are tube shaped so they’re a bit of a pain to take out when the tray is pretty full

Q: How often does this need to be cleaned? Will I still need to clean it every day?

I have one cat and the litter box only has the tray with the waste cleaned once a week, give or take a day or two. It really paid for itself within the first 6 months on the amount of litter I've saved. I use Tidy Cats with Febreexe. For some reason Tidy Cats other varieties dont clump as well and even an expensive brand didnt do as well, either

Q: what is the size of the litter area?

Approximately 13 1/2" X 15", it is marked with a maximum and minimum depth. If you overfill it won't work. If you use the "better" high clump litter it can cause problems. You need to change the litter once a month and clean the pan.

Q: Could I use the Wood pellet litter instead of the clay or crystal litter?

I’m thinking the solids will catch in the rake for disposal then the unsoiled pellets and saw dust will fall through and return to the box?? I don’t own this but came to the reviews with the same question as I use the pelletized pine pellets from tractor supply for my cats.
