The name says it all
I've owned several PUR faucet filters over the past 10 years. I recently moved from a house with well water that was the best tasting I've ever had, so didn't need the filter. My current place is on town water which is highly treated and chlorinated. I drink about 2 gallons of water every day and crave a very clean, neutral taste. This delivers perfectly. I like the ability to switch the water stream from unfiltered to filters with the flick of the lever and the filtered stream is still strong enough fill a quart pitcher in under 30 secs. The caveat is my house has extremely strong water pressure, so you may not get the same flow rate. Nevertheless, the water tastes fantastic. It takes about 2 minutes to install and about 5 minutes to change the filter. I love the visual indicator that tells you when you need a filter change. Mine have lasted the full 3 months that they say is the norm. PUR brand filters are expensive, but of course, Amazon sells generic. I'm really only concerned about taste, not safety, so ok with generics.

Very easy to install
I purchased another brand a was disappointed. This was easy to install and I live the flashing light indicator that advises when to change the filter.

which compared to the price of cases of water is not too bad of a deal
It works as intended for me. If you're short on time skip to the last paragraph for a general, non-detailed review. Otherwise, I suggest reading the whole thing in order to get the full picture. The water in my area is ok enough to cook with, but drinking just cold tap can make my roomate and me feel kind of ill. The installation instructions are fairly clear and straightforward - I say fairly, more on that later- and while skeptical on whether or not I might regret the purchase or not, overall, I find that I do not for the time being. One particular product review I looked at prior to purchasing mentioned the switch that changes between filtered and non-filtered mode lasting about a year or so before snapping off and causing a headache. I have not gotten to that stage, at least not so far, but I would still reccomend having a jug or pitcher or something to fill up with the filtered water instead of repeatedly getting water from it for every little cup or bottle. This allows you to store that water in the fridge and not have to repeatedly flip the switch and risk first-hand experience of what that review spoke of.My critique, and why I cannot give 5 stars, is that, at least on my facuet, it can initially cause a large amount of water to leak from the facet's base during each use. I say initially because it does not leak quite as much as it used to after a reinstallation, though why it does not do that anymore ranges between the faucet "adjusting" to the filter or I managed to do a previously missed installation step not explicitly written in the directions during the reinstall.A pack fo 6 replacement filter cartrigdes, as of the date of this post, can be bought for roughly $40, and with 2 people in the household, the "change cartridge" light, which goes from green to yellow to red, started going yellow around January 17th, roughly 2 months after I first installed it with about a month and a half of usage. With that said, when they say that each cartridge lasts for 3 months, it is unlikely that they are taking into consideration much larger households - I am talking greater than 4 here - with twice if not more usage, where it is likely that they would be getting a red light around this time (unless the thing is rigged with an internal clock or something, but I doubt that). A single person might be able to get it to last a little longer than 3 months.Taking that into account, a household of 5 full adults/teenagers who drink plenty of water from home (IE, would be using the filter faucet as a primary source of water) would, from my experience so far, probably have to get a new cartridge every 1.5 months, meaning that a single 6 pack would last about 9 months, which compared to the price of cases of water is not too bad of a deal, especially around where I live. The leaking of water, if you pay for water and it is not included in rent, could be a balancing factor though depending on how much yours leaks. In conclusion, I would recommend this filter if your tap water is on its own unsafe or very questionable to drink and you do not mind some leaking of water during usage. A 6 pack cartridge can last 2 thirsty adults about 18 months, but 4 or more might have to get a new 6 pack every 9 months if not sooner depending on everyone's water usage. If at first there is a large amount of leaking, try reinstalling the filter; however, if the leaking does not reach a satisfactory amount (whether that be some or none) return the filter and try a different one. I hope I have been helpful in giving you all a decent idea on my experience with this filter, and that you are able to make a more informed decision than before!

Fantastic Product and Filters
I love the mount on my faucet and these filters. They make my water drinkable. I fill large containers and keep them in the fridge. It took 100 days for the red light to start flashing. That's when I knew it was time to change my filter. The original filter came with the mount, and I bought a set of two more so that I could change the old filter out as soon as it was ready. I buy only PUR filters.

Lasted over 7 years (amazingly)
A One (1) Year Update:After exactly one (1) year of heavy use in our household, this product is still performing to our expectations without any problem. In my earlier review I stated: "It remains to be seen whether this PUR will be durable in a long run." I can now report that after one (1) whole year of use, this particular one with us has been durable and worked without a single issue. We just hope that what has been true with our unit is true for many, if not all, units in the field.--------------------------------------------------------ORIGINAL REVIEWAll the negative reviews about the reliability of this product concerned us, but we decided to purchase one a little over two months ago. Either by a stroke of luck or PUR's having improved the quality, we have not had any problem with ours despite a very heavy use that our unit has been through. We drink gallons and gallons of water every day, and despite that this faucet-mounted PUR product has been reliably hydrating our household with good tasting water, albeit for just two months thus far.As of right now, in its present condition and performance level, we can say that this product has worked for us, and worked for us very well. It remains to be seen whether this PUR will be durable in a long run. But even if did not last, e.g., under a year, we would have this purchase more than pay itself off in convenience and savings. And if it does last, then all that would keep on accumulating. We will just have to see.[Updated December 10, 2019]It has been six (6) long years since our last review of this filter, as shown above. Amazingly, it has just breathed its last, 7 1/2 years after the purchase. In the end, the water flow became a tiny trickle due most likely to the internal system being clogged with various kinds of detritus. However, that is expected after such a long period of time. We frankly did not expect this product to last this long, so we do not have much to complain. Maybe it is pure luck on our part, but we take it.
