Disappointed
I very rarely pay retail for a book, but this had positive reviews, and my 5 year old daughter has been struggling with a fear of the wind for the last several months that has been affecting her at school and home, so I thought I'd buy this. Most of the book focuses on the negatives of wind and is fairly violent from a little kid POV--the wind is constantly telling the boy "no" and pushing him around or pushing large things into him. My daughter worried more that the boy in the story was getting hurt than on the happy ending and it didn't help at all. Besides this, the book is written in a very simplistic style that's more appropriate for 3 year olds. I would recommend something more science-based for 5-6 year old like "Feel the Wind", which helped explained the reason for wind in a logical fashion for my daughter.

Cute book
I bought this because my sons name is Xander so it seems like this book is especially written for him and he loves it!

A playful adventure about a common childhood problem.
My four-year old son is very sociable and gets along with just about everyone, but he still has days like Xander's."Xander and the Wind" is a fun, engaging, and beautifully illustrated children's storybook. It helps remind us all that cooperation begins with setting aside our past differences. Also, the author nearly owed me a new keyboard as a result of reading coffee while reading page 16 for the first time.

Highly recommended!
My 3 year old daughter has requested this book every night for a week... the story is delightful and she loves the anticipation as Xander learns some things about the wind, and some about himself. Highly recommended!

Wonderful!
This is a charming story that I used to help my son understand the very same fear! Wonderfully illustrated - very cute.
