WHO SAYS Organic Chemistry is just TOO HARD to reasonably simplify?
Delightful -- this is a book I always wanted to write but never found time to write, PLUS THIS book by Gene Davis is a lot better than I could have written! I recommend it for any who are interested in casual study of organic chemistry or who formerly were once adept at organic chemistry but became rusty and are looking for a refresher review. I like this book WAY better than any other less-than-full-blown university Organic Chemistry books I have yet examined (and over the years I have examined a bunch of "made easy" and "for idiots" books on organic chemistry).

supplemental book
good supplemental book but you do need a textbook for class to learn organic chemistry. this book requires you to have knowledge first.

My sister uses this book to help her with her organic chem class and stated that it’s easy to understand and follow. Glad I got it for her.

You Need to Have a Background in the Subject
It is very generalized and it is designed for people who have a background in the subject, either are currently taking the course at a college-level institution or have had the class before and just need shortcuts to solve the problems. If you have no background in the subject matter, then don't even waste your time and money, because you won't get any benefits from it.

Just the Facts, Jack
Seems to be a streamlined version of a basic standard college O-chem text. I haven't gotten past the second page. (I fall into a chemisty rat-hole every time I try to study. But that's not the book's fault. For example, did you know that the element, Magnesium, was discovered by a scottish professor at the Univeristy of Edinburgh, named Dr. Black, in the 1700s? His stone apartment building still stands, and Google satelite photos appear to reveal a noodle-shop on the first floor of his former address. He isolated the element by boiling rocks from ponds in Epsom. Animals avoided these ponds, refusing to drink the water, and he wanted to know what was in it. That's why we also call Magnesium salts, Epsom salts. Dr. Black also perfected the pan balance, still one of the most important tools for experimental chemistry.)

It was a very helpful book to help me break down some of the complex subjects of chemistry.
