The aluminium casting surprised me, it's a decent piece of metal with a machined flat bottom. The steel rods are also better than the pictures make out but the laser marking looks just as naff.The blades would do with a sharpen as they look a bit dull.The nobs are nice and easy to use and I don't think they'll slip easily.I've got the veritas single marking guage and didn't fancy stumping up £50 for the mortise double. this will do the trick perfectly! albeit not quite as classy.

Honestly I am a sucker for reviewing tools I have bought and to be honest I thought this was going to be made cheap for the price with lots of play and as little accuracy as possible however I know what a quality tool look like when I recieve and use it and I think this marking gauge is an absolute steal, I've seen ones exactly the same at tool shows going for £60 + buy this tool I guarantee you wont be disappointed.

The tool is well made but is difficult to apply pressure to the blade(s) at the same time as keeping pressure on the edge of the timber being marked.

So easy to use , my husband is very pleased with it . The quality is excellent and really good value for money.
