Teaching plays to your team
Loved this product to teach plays to a new 12 year old AAU team. Put the markers down on the floor and have players begin the play in the correct formation; i.e. 1-4 (UCLA sets), 5 out, 2 -3, etc. Great for when you have a lot of kids on the team. First 5 run the play ... then the next 5! Have the kids 'on deck' watch certain players and get ready to jump in! Totally accelerates adoption time for new plays and/or new players.I purchased 2 sets - one to show the original formation and the second set to show the cutting, screening, etc., called for on the play. I do not pay much attention to the numbers as I do not coach position by numbers; 1 = PG, 2 = SG, 3 = PF, 4 = SF, 5 = center) but rather have ball handlers, wings, and bigs. So I simply turn the discs over and teach the plays.Works great on putting in baseline/sideline out of bounds play as well. And since it's a relatively new teaching tool, parents haven't seen them before and are impressed (which is always a good thing when managing the often most difficult part of the team!)Suggest you start with 2 sets! As you can show precise details to cuts, spacing, etc. A great tool for teaching zone defenses as well. Two sets allow you to put in the first play, hand it over to assistant so the kids can get a few reps - perhaps at different positions, and then the head coach can go to the other end of the court to put in the next play. So rather than standing around listening to the coach, kids are getting reps. These are the most important tool in my coaching bag.

Exactly what we wanted, great floor markers, stay in place (just keep them and the floor clean)
I was looking for a nice, simple way to place markers on the gym floor without creating a slipping issue for any of the kids. These "Shot Spotz" were perfect, and saw plenty of use in drills and practices with my Pee Wee basketball team. The key is to keep them (and the floor) clean, and they stay in place firmly. The only time they ever moved was when the floor was dusty, which we could easily rectify. Cleaning them off is simple, as the rubbery surface can be wiped down with a damp cloth. We used them a lot to help identify spots for drills, locations for offensive cuts/positioning, and zone/defensive positions. The kids liked them, and when we eventually backed off on using them, the kids remembered their spots and hit them well. We even used them for some games during practice, so there are plenty of ways to get your money's worth.

I love using them as a basketball coach
I love using them as a basketball coach. I had a set of the original shot spotz ( (which I still use) the originals are much bigger but also much heaver to carry around. When they first came out with the smaller ones they had a white background which showed up and also looked better than the new ones with the black background. I would suggest you carry both and let the consumer decide. As far as there use, I love using them. I have made up several fun shooting games and also use them to explain offensive and defensive sets. I highly recommend them. (If they had offered consumer more choices on what they like, small or large, white or black then I would have given a 5 star rating) Thanks

The kit is portable and comes with a nice carrying case
I was tasked with coaching a youth basketball team for the first time and have to say, I would not have survived without this training kit. The kit is portable and comes with a nice carrying case. Very durable, we used the kit inside and outside an entire season roughly 6 hours a week.Along with working great during drills it also helped the players know where they needed to be for their position (1PG, 2SG, 3SF, 4PF, 5C)The quality is great. After a season and off season Spotz has held up to the highest standard. Still looks new. Great non-skid material. The only thing I would like to see differently was that the Magnetic, all-weather digital timer came with an off/on button.Spotz is an affordable gem that will last a long time. I recommend all coaches and players utilize this tool.

Simple and effective!
Simple product. What you see is what you get and they work perfectly. When you store after use, try to maintain on a flat surface as they will form and mold to whatever position they find themselves. They will bounce back after while. The timer is a little less desirable, but it gets the job done.

Great product. Comes in very handy when I have ...
Great product. Comes in very handy when I have been training my 10 year old son on some basketball drills. He responds better with the visual circles on the floor and I can see the competitive nature with the timer. However, one suggestion I would recommend to make this product better is that the circles come in a bigger size. They look fine in the pictures now, but they dwindle when placed on the court. Other than that, excellent product when teaching basketball drills.

My very low expectations were exceeded-
These are great! I bought them for my son who loves to play basketball in the driveway. I was a little worried that this really was no different than using the natural driveway cracks to mark the shots, but these really enhance those spots. The timer is very cheap and is really no better than any other stopwatch on your phone or watch. However, the disks lay flat and stay in place. They are also fairly close to indestructible. I've gotten way more than my moneys worth.

Absolutely fantastic
These things are freaking awesome for practice. You can dribble right over the top of them and not even notice. They stick very nicely to the floor. And since they are flat, kids stepping on them doesn't ruin them (unlike cones at soccer practice) and the kids are not nearly tempted to move them around as much. They should be helpful for other indoor gym ball sports like volleyball, when you want to mark zones on the floor but otherwise not disrupt the floor or ball space, but I use them for children's basketball.I don't think I have ever used the little clock-thing that comes with it. I pretty much just use the markers.

Compact floor spots.
Grip to fall well. Timer not very loud for a hall / outdoors but TBH I was watch timer instead anyway. They are big enough to be easily visible but small enough not to get in the way and they don't slip on sportshall floors.

No Problems, Very Happy
Got this about a week ago and have used it 5 or 6 times, so far so good. I use mine outdoors and have not had any trouble with slipping (surprising- I play on a worn public asphalt court half of the time) a paved surface would certainly not be any issue. The clock is very functional, and I do use the magnet on the back side of post, has never fallen off. All in all, exactly what I was looking for. Some have complained that they were not good and broke down in the rain, mine have been in the rain and not had any issues yet (I did not leave them out overnight, the reviewer with issues left them out) will update if they do. The "detailed instructions for 9 fun training games and drills" is nothing special, I can't imagine that anyone looking at this product would not think of the drills on their own, and probably make them better to suit their individual needs.

Great product
I bought 2 sets of these for teaching youth basketball. They have survived 2 months of practice with no issues. They stay where you put them and i am confident no one is going to trip over them and hurt themselves. Now if i could find a way to get the 11 yr old boys to stop playing with them it would be great.
