RSM Mauser K98 Sniper ZF39 Scope &Split Rings Mount Reproductions All Steel

I have an original K98k sniper rifle configured with the ZF39 scope, but don't want to risk the old scope shooting it, therefore bought the reproduction. The repro scope body is steel like the original and the glass is good. Has that stupid "Sniper" logo in two places. Buffed that shit off. The German post sight w/side bars is huge; much bigger than originals I've sighted through. The post is wide enough to block out a torso target at 100 yards. NOT a precision sight picture for sure. Neither is the scope waterproof. If I were to value this scope, I would say it's an OK $75 scope. Not worth the over $200 charged, despite the cost of fabricating a vintage scope.The bases are cast, and did not precisely fit the receiver, so re-curving them on my mill was necessary. I actually have two of these items, one on an AX41 K98k and the other on a large ring Brno Mauser. Didn't fit either properly. And I had to shim the front base .040 to get a 100yd zero. The mounting screws are not 6/48; they are 3mm. The ring screws are 4mm, not 8/40. Do not use the included drill and tap; they are some oddball size and don't even go together. So I went with 6/48 on the bases.So with some fiddling and substituting better parts I got it all up and running properly. I'm actually happy with the scopes; not so much the quality control. Now I'm hoping they hold zero and last.
