The Chemistry of Explosives

From someone who has spent the last 50+ years in the propulsion and explosives industry, it was a very interesting read. It did jump around quite a bit and at times it was hard to follow the author's line of thinking. Good historical view of the allied complexities during WW II.

I didnt dislike anything in thos book, it brought back memories of being a e-1 in the navy and taking my explosive exam... I got an 85 percent on it and it was actually the highest grade of the class... who knew I'd become an explosive expert, so thanks...

A very good introduction for the novice to the study of explosives!

Good for basic explosive concepts, and advanced chemical characteristics of specific explosives, but not much in between. Good primer for emergency managers, or chemists seeking detailed information, but not particularly useful explosives users or first responders.

Very well written and clearly communicates the science.The contents of this book fall very firmly in the category of ‘don't try this at home’As a chemist, I was shocked by the molecular structures - but that’s the point of these materials!

Very good but in same case a number of explosives are unfortunately described in what you might call old-chemical processes. The results are the same, but modern processes are often entirely different origin topics.Depending on what the doctor has the intent or knowledge, this book is very well written and easy to understand. Although the price is a factor to be reckoned with for the next step will cost next double.
