Works. A little velcro isn't a bad idea.
It works well. It fits my handlebars nicely. The clamp doesn't have teeth inside so it doesn't damage the handlebar. It's a perfect fit and clamps down tightly. The whole system is very stable. With all the bolts tightened there is no wiggle to it at all. And it holds the phone tightly so you can press the screen without feeling like the phone will push out of the cradle. Two caveats though....I use a dedicated phone for my road bike, an Alcatel Idol 3 4.7inch. This is a VERY thin phone. The angled clamps easily extend slightly over the edge of the phone side to hold it securely. If you have a fat phone or a phone in a case, the clamps might be too small to hold it. That being said it also holds my Lg G5 without a case. But I don't ride with that phone so I can't tell you how it holds it on a ride.A little velcro is a good idea. Again I use a dedicated phone set up as a bike computer. So I don't mind putting a velrco strip on the back of my phone. I have the hook side of the velcro laid down in the little depressed area in the holder and the felt part on the back of the phone. The small strip isn't enough to keep the phone in place by itself for hours, but if the bolt on the holder comes a little loose the phone will not just immediately fly out of the holder. Also a tip for this or any other phone cradle....I keep a kids size shower cap balled up under my saddle. If it rains I just put it over the phone on the cradle and it's about 90% protected from the rain. Add a small velcro strap to cinch the show cap closed under the phone and it's 99% waterproof. And it installs in seconds if an unexpected rain hits.

Works Great
I first bought this bicycle phone holder for my iPhone on my Catrike Expedition, and it worked great for paved trails. Then I saw a better GUB holder and bought it because I started taking rougher trails/public roads and didn't want to worry about losing my phone. BUT I found a great use for part of this GUB mount - holding the rear rack struts to the rear bike frame (because the original rack mounts were flimsy and broke) - so I bought another one of these GUB G-81. This bicycle phone mount is very sturdy and it appears will never loosen or break. Great product!

Definitely beats them wrap around rubber band holder’s.
All around a great product. Better than having a clamp with a rubber. The tie down was more sturdy than them flip around rubber bands on most holders. Yet to have any issues with mines it’s holding my IPhone 7plus like a champ..

Junk
Wont hold anything in an Otterbox case. Junk. No matter how tight you make it..falls right out amd tumbles down the road. HUGE regret

Good price good grip hard to remove phone
I loved how tight it holds the phone but at the same time because of that it’s very difficult to remove the phone and loosen the grip
