This smells fantastic (leather). My fountain pen works wonderfully on it. In fact, that is the one that writes the smoothest on it. I use this one for my every day writing, journal keeping. This company also has refills for this and I purchased some of those too. The inserts are sturdy, thick and will stack easily for archiving. The box was beautiful and I would order this for a gift. It gets envious looks when I take it to board meetings. I use it to also to jot notes and what have you. It's professional, rustic and versatile.

Loved this little leather journal and I think it would make a great gift but only after you have one of your own. It is a very classy solution for any occasion if I am in the office or on a sandy beach. I use mine to take down ideas I may have for videos I create, never having to worry if the battery will die mid-thought, or someone will hack my information.

** Update: I see that the seller has changed the listing title so it's clear A5 notebooks will not fit. Thank you for doing that so others will not order the wrong item. ** I am so disappointed! The leather is gorgeous, smell is divine, giftable box was nice, and delivery was right on time. Unfortunately, although the seller says their inserts are A5, I tried six different A5 notebooks and none would fit. You CANNOT use this with a Stalogy 365, Hobonichi Techo Cousin Jibun Techo Biz, Moleskine Classic (Large), Apica CD11, or Muji monthly. All of those are A5. None would slip into either flap. If the seller could just make this a little taller, it would accommodate so many more options! If you just want to use the included insert, this is a beautiful, giftable piece.

Gorgeous. Only word that needs to be said. However the packaging was fantastic too! Wrapped in plastic for protection, then the box then in tissue and when opening the box and smelling that fantastic leather cover. Be still my heart! Gave as a gift and I may need one for myself!

I bought this as a easy to carry travel journal and sketchbook. The leather cover looks nice, smells like oiled leather sort of like a baseball mitt. The cover is great, but the filler paper has some flaws. First, the binding keeps it from laying flat, so to write in it or draw, is challenging. I had to scrap it and buy a spiral bound pad of writing paper of the same size. Side note, there is nowhere to attach a pen or pencil. I just clip my mechanical pencil to the spiral of the notebook that I ended up buying separately. All in all, I am happy with my purchase, but it could have been better with a few minor adjustments.
