📸 Unlock New Perspectives with the Nikon BR-3 Adapter Ring!
The BR-2A enables you to mount a 52mm front thread lens in reverse on the PB-6 and Nikon cameras. This increases magnification and working distance. BR-3 provides a 52mm thread for filters and other lens attachments with lens in reverse. BR-5 allows mounting lens with 62mm thread (use with BR-2A). BR-6 for the PB-4, PB-5 and PB-6 enables Nikkor lens auto-diaphragm control with BR-2A BR-3 AR-4/7/10 cable release.

Well made and works as expected
It's a pretty simple device and not entirely necessary but since I'm paranoid about damaging the back lens of my 50mm lens while reversing it with the BR-2a to do macro photography, I think it's worth using. This adaptor is a solid hunk of metal and seems to be very cleanly machined. Fits on the F-mount of my lens and lets me screw the UV filter on to keep me from directly bumping the rear element when I'm getting "up close and personal" with my subjects. The other reviewer mentioned having a problem with a third party filter threading onto this adaptor. Like they said not all threads are created equal but they're supposed to be. I think it has to do with the quality of the threads on the filter. I had no problem screwing a decades old Kalimar UV filter on this adaptor but have had problems with filter threads in other applications unrelated to the BR-3 adaptor. I have a set of cheap "close-up" filters that I was using for Macro before getting the BR-2a and although they came together as a set, I have a hard time getting them to screw together or to my lens. So like the other reviewer said, your mileage may vary but if you have a problem getting a filter on this adaptor I would tend to blame the filter and not this adaptor.

Feels cheap, release lever is annoying. Get the Photodiox instead
This feels cheap, and the design of the lens release lever is horrible. It sticks out VERY prominently, and bends VERY easily. It almost requires three hands to hold the lens/camera, this adapter ring, and actuate the release lever.Get the Photodiox adapter ring instead. It feels like much better quality, and the release lever of the Photodiox is trivial to operate while also holding the camera, AND the lever is very low profile. The aperture open/lock feature is great. The Nikon adapter ring is 3-4 mm shorter than the Photodiox, not that that matters (this is on the wrong end of the lens for it to matter optically.Skip this. Get the Photodiox. Trust me, you don't have to thank me.

A handy device, and I wouldn't worry about the thread pitch
I just bought one of these BR-3s recently, and I agree with what's been said earlier about its build quality. It's lightweight, but well made. I've come to expect this level of quality when it comes to items that Nikon has designed for the pro or serious amateur.I just wanted to weigh in also on the matter of the BR-3's thread pitch. This is not the first time I've read of B+W filters having a slightly different thread pitch than "standard," and being just different enough to cause fitment issues. So, I dug out a stack of 52mm filters I had within easy reach -- Canon, Hoya, and Toyo, all decent brands, especially the first two. They all threaded onto my BR-3 without a problem. I have some Nikon 52mm filters around here somewhere, but I figure if Canon and Hoya fit, so will Nikon. So blame the B+W, not the BR-3.

Works like it's supposed to
I bought this little item to protect the back lens element for when I want to take reverse-lens macro photos and it works just as it's supposed to. Having this is definitely worth it's price considering it protects your lens from nature's elements when going outdoors, not to mention water droplets being a major subject of macro photography. Note, however, not all 52mm threads are made equal; my B+W UV filter won't fit, but my Nikon polarizer does. Maybe it only accepts Nikon filters? I doubt it, but I don't have any other brands to try it with.

Nikon Br-3 Adaptor ring.
Nikon Br-3 Adapter Ring This is almost an essential piece of kit if you reverse a lens for macro work. It fits onto any Nikon lens and provides rudimentary lens protection to the mechanism but also allows you to fit a filter to stop the ingress of dust; it has a 52mm filter thread. Usual Nikon high quality. Nikon Br-3 Adapter Ring
