In a class all by itself. Outstanding for cats or dogs
Before reading the rest of the review be aware that I bought this crate 'Used' so I expected "cosmetic damages" as the description stated. With caring for as many as 20 rescue cats and kittens at one time, I have crates of all sizes and from most major brands on Amazon. Finding a crate for 1/2 price is always a 'score'.This crate is by FAR the most well-built crate I have owned. It is extraordinarily sturdy and this is immediately noticeable when you pick up the box, as it is very heavy. The design is unique and (for me) there were some positive and negative aspects to this. The garage-style door is something I have needed for a long time, since I often join multiple crates together. Not having to remove a door saves a lot of work. Just lift it up and out of the way.The design of the latching system on the front door was frustrating to me, but I wasn't able to tell whether it was the door design or a result of the many bent wires the crate arrived with (beware that this is what was referred to as "cosmetic damage". I finally removed the door handle and now the door functions easily. Either way, I like this system more than the normal bar and loop latch. Both doors are HUGE! This allows me to remove, clean and return any size litter box without dumping dirty litter on the crate or my kennel floor while trying to wiggle the box out. Love this feature!I have always relied on Midwest to find reliable, quality products I need to sustain my foster home, at a reasonable price. But with this crate they have exceeded all my expectations! Worth every penny.Note that I have given a 5 star rating for 'traveling' as well, but the weight of this crate may not make it your best option for that purpose.

Space saving and escape proof!
I got a 42" one for my 50lb dog and she has ample space in this. It is HEAVY, but very sturdy. I absolutely love the garage door, it opened up my options for where to put it in my apartment. I haven't experienced the same issue as others mentioned - my door folds perfectly flat, even on top of the crate cover I bought. I did misread and thought it came on wheels, but it just came with foam rollers. I will probably see if I can get casters for it at some point, but I don't feel that my wood floors are in danger of getting damaged. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase.

Sturdy, well made crate; not so sturdy divider
I really like the garage door style door on the side, it works perfectly for the space my dog's crate is in. A crate that has a side door that opens normally wouldn't work because of what's around it and I don't have enough room in my studio apartment to really make it possible. However, my siberian husky puppy is quite the escape artist, and the divider doesn't even hold up for 5 minutes with her. She very quickly and easily brings it down no matter how I secure it in there with the pieces provided. I've used zip ties as well, but she chews through them. If I cared enough, I could try padlocks or chain or something, but she's growing pretty quickly, so it's whatever. She has figured out how the garage style door works and has made several attempts to open it herself, but she has yet to be successful. I'm not all that worried she ever will get it open, it doesn't seem physically possible for a dog. This crate is very sturdy and well made and I would totally give it 5 stars if the divider came with something sturdier than hooks to hold it in place. That said, if you don't need the divider, then this will work great for you.

No doors to get in the way!
Once you get used to it, this crate is easy to open and close. There is a clip of some kind in the middle of the door. I can't figure out why it's there except to frustrate you when in folds in and prevents you from closing the door all the way. Once you realize this clip needs to be open, the door operates smoothly. And when it's open, the door lays on top and it doesn't block access to the room it's in. If you want to put your crate in a tight spot, and you are going to leave it open most of the time, this is your crate. I've absolutely not had problem with it laying cleanly on top. Just pull it straight up until it stops and lean it back. My crate did arrive damaged. The left door rail is bent in, but the door gets by well enough. It wasn't worth exchanging.

"garage" door could slide better but has unsuspected Awesomeness!
At first I was stoked about the garage door that folds on top. I have had it for two weeks now and in use it is not as fabulous as I thought it would be.It does not slide smoothly up and down. If your dog has been bad you will not have the satisfaction of slamming this door down like a guillotine. And if your dog will try escaping before the door is shut you don't have a chance getting it shut before they get out. HOWEVER UNFORESEEN AWESOME FEATURE!! There is a stop on the garage door, not sure why, that allows you to prop it open about 10 inches. My dacsund has been in heat the last week and this crate is her new favorite place to avoid our large male dog because of this stop on the door she can get in and out but he can't!It is perfect size for our Doberman and I do like the garage door being out of the way. We only crate him during the day if we will be gone so we don't need to close it often. If you know you will be using the door often just use the front door.It is also possible that it will loosen up after we use it for a while. Also probably not strong enough if you have an escape artist. But few crates are, heck I had a boxer once that chewed through chain link!
