Amazing
Do I really have to review the Hunger Games? Come on. It's one of the best series out there, if not the best! I had read the HG series on paperbacks. But, I fell in love with it and I knew I had to get the hardcovers.Coming to the quality of the books. The covers are beautiful! The dust jacket has those texture on the titles and on the mockingjay bird. The mockingjay is engraved on the actual cover, which adds to the aesthetic of the book. The pages are good and the binding is really strong. If you want to collect, you got to get this one. This one should be on every book enthusiast's shelf.P.S. The best part, this is the FIRST EDITION. Yes! This is the first one!As always, Happy Hunger Games and may the odds be ever in your favor!

I am big fan of epic novels. I don't like fiction usually but in case of epic novels I gladly make an exception. I loved the "Lord of the Rings" series. I loved the "Song of Ice and Fire"(also referred to as Game of Thrones) series. After finishing these two I was hungry for more such epic tails, then I came across this piece. I was a bit skeptical as to whether this can match the levels of the other series' that I have read. Obviously one can argue that you cannot compare the class of "Lord of the Rings" or "Game of Thrones" with Hunger Games, but as a reader once I picked up this series, I was glued to it, the novels have a very fast paced narrative which is full of action and romance and I wasn't satisfied till I had read the last of it. I finished this series in flat one week. I would recommend Hunger Games Trilogy to all GoT and Lotr fans. Last but not the least I would like to mention that the page quality is good and I received a free gym bag with a Mockingjay logo on it with the 3 book set, so I was more than happy that I ordered the trilogy at one go.

its better not to read them
I bought the foil edition. when I received it, it was shrink wrapped. After opening I discovered that there were some creases. Since it is a foil set, the creases are highly visible. Once i started reading it, there were 2 vertical creases( as with any other book) on the spine, but again, they were more visible because of the foil effect. Overall i got what i received but i warn you, if you want absolutely no creases on this, its better not to read them. Buy another movie set ( for about 690) for reading so you can keep these books crease free and beautiful.[ASIN:054579191X The Hunger Games Trilogy Box Set (Foil Edition)]]Delivery was prompt and satisfactory.

Okay condition for a used book. Wrong cover art.
The book covers of one of the trilogy (Hunger Games #1) was different from what was promised in pictures (and I am someone who thinks highly of their aesthetic values).Haven't found any binding issues or pen marks so I am happy there, even though I expected a bit more from Amazon's description of "Used - Like New".There was no box but that's fine as it was mentioned beforehand.

The product review
This is not a book review. The product is pristine, perfect. It has the original symbols underneath a shiny, beautiful glass jacket also the first edition. Wow!

A Relatable Story
This book is a must read for the fans of divergent and maze runner.....it focuses on totalitarian dictatorship, a facet that that was prevalent in the past few centuries. It will definitely not fail to instil a deep impression on the minds of the readers and leave them wondering about the dystopia which we are living in.

Didn't really enjoy
The Hunger Games had been one of those books I'd been meaning to read for years but had never got around to it. Until one day, the whole trilogy was on Kindle's Daily Deal so I decided to snap it up.Unfortunately, for whatever reason, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I suppose that being 37 and having skipped most of the Young Adult/Teen fiction when I was a teenager myself (I was reading Stephen King and the like by the time I was 13), I wasn't used to the easier style and the teen angst Katniss showcases through out the series. The first book was very good but Catching Fire and Mockingjay were a bit dull. I even had to take a two month break between Catching Fire and Mockingjay. But there's something about leaving a book on 75% complete that triggers my OCD so I decided to crack on with it and wrap it up and not just throw it on my "did not finish" pile.I didn't find Katniss a very likeable character with her attitude to Peeta and constantly throwing him under a Capitol bus, I mean sure she had a hard life but that doesn't excuse the way she treated him, especially in Mockingjay when he needed help to beat the Capitol's torture. About the only character I could relate to was Heymitch (minus the alcoholism!).Even though I didn't enjoy it, I don't believe in giving a book one star. So I'll give this three on the strength of the first in the trilogy. It's not that it's a bad book trilogy by any means, it just didn't connect with me. I suppose it's comparable to someone reading Harry Potter for the first time ever at 40 and having not seen the films - it wouldn't feel the same way to someone who's grown up with the series from an early age.

First two books were excellent
I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books of the trilogy, well written, good plot, but I think it should have stopped there. I really had to force myself to keep reading the third book, it was really heavy going. It seemed as though the author had lost interest in her characters, I know I did!It would have got five stars if it had stopped at book 2.

Wow!... better late than never...
I cannot remember exactly who first drew my attention to "the Hunger Games".... some friend I think it may be when the first film came out??... anyway, I poo-pah-ed it.... based on no more than it "seeming" to be some teen-flick romance type film...probably not my "cup-of-tea"... and then i watched the film for the first time a week ago.... and was blown away!.... Im not even sure exactly why?... so, encouraged, I watched Catching Fire.... now Im fully gripped, drawn in and cannot wait to see the next installment....and now to the book.... do I need to read it??.... well, I "kindled" the trilogy and have just finished reading the first book...oh wow, what a truly brilliant story (despite having watched the film(s).... I have never read a story that has been written fully from the perspective of the lead character...its quite intriguing, its riveting, its extrodinarily beautiful.... I love it.All I am really trying to say here that MAY be useful to anyone is regardless of watching films, do try to read the books...ok, I havnt hit the last two books yet but somehow... i know.. I wont be disappointed."May the odds be forever in your favour....." >:)

Better, by far, than Harry Potter
As a woman "of a certain age" I know that this book is not aimed at me as the target audience, but what a read! Set in a post apocalyptic America where 12 districts are ruled by "the Capitol"which, as punishment for a long ago rebellion, demands 2 children from each district every year as "tribute" to fight to the death in gladiatorial combat. We follow the events through the eyes of one such "tribute" but this novel is not just about fighting or survival, it is about love & loss & subversion & rebellion & everything else in between. It is impossible to discuss the plot without spoiling it for those yet to read this trilogy however I was caught up in the story & found it truly emotional. Comparisons with "Lord of the Flies" are inevitable &, although it is years since I read it , I can see similarities. However I also see the influence of other writers & of others concepts & mythologies. Again it is impossible to discuss the complexities of the themes without ruining the plot for others. But do not be put off by my use of the word "complexities"; these 3 books are not a difficult read & will keep your interest all the way to the end. Read it simply as a novel, or set of novels, & you will not be disappointed but I would have loved to have these books as set reading for analysis in a literature class; they would stand up remarkably well.As I said, I know that I am not the target demographic for these novels but, like the Harry Potter novels, they are likely to transcend the generations. I read all the Potter novels & found them entertaining enough, if a little dull at times & taking an awfully long time to get to the inevitable conclusion. These novels are never dull & the conclusion is anything but inevitable. They should make the reader think far more than a Harry Potter novel & are all the better for that.
