Evolution Power Tools R185CCS 7-1/4" TCT Multi-Material Cutting Circular Saw, 7-1/4", Orange

I was using a dewalt worm drive... but this saw is so much better i have to say it is a better saw... the biggest difference is the evolution saw doesn't have a rough start or torq in your hand when u pull the trigger to start it .im so glad I got this saw

I’m super impressed with this saw! What a great tool for the money. It has a light too, which I didn’t know until I plugged it in. The dust collection is pretty good too.

Ultimatly, I will keep it as I love the versatility of my other Evolution saws. However, i do feel it is underpowered. It did bog down cutting an old piece of wood at full depth. Ok, it was full depth, but it was also medium density wood. How will it behave with metal?

Nice circular saw, very stable. Powerful motor. I have had a few Big brand name saws over the years, This Evolution is equal to and in some ways better. Very ergonomic for my big hands. I really like the dust port that I can attach to my dust collection system. Very satisfied with this saw.

Honestly I was between this and the S185CCSL, but I looked up the specs and they were identical.At the time I bought the I'm sure that the stator and armature were the same p/n but they have removed the parts list for the R185CCS from the website BUT UNLIKE the R185CCSL (which has the parts list) you get a 15A 3700RPM motor LIKE the S185CCSL.It was a steal at $55 when I bought. I picked up a metal cutting blade and essentially have an orange S185CCSL with a rear discharge port instead of side discharge.The metal cutting I have done has been effortless. Power cord is high quality not PVC garbage. Very happy.

Although this was the top search hit for "evolution track saw R185CSSX+" it is not the same thing. This saw has a FLAT BASE which WILL NOT WORK with ANY track. And the base is atached with spring clips and security screws so you CANNOT REPLACE THE BASE with any aftermarket base.If you are looking for a track saw, you must pay OVER TWO TIMES AS MUCH for this exact evolution saw simply with a different base attached. Make very sure you are buying the right thing because amazon search will lead you astray.I am returning this and although it seems like a fine (if heavy) standard circular saw, my brief relationship with evolution is over and i will be purchasing some different brand. If evolution were interested in evolving, they could one day sell this exact saw with a swappable base plate, or just with a track-compatible plate, and own the track saw market. But that day is not today.
