Not as good as expected
Was encouraged to buy these from previous reviews on the internet, first thing to see is very noticeable chromatic abbe-ration,ended up with the Nikon action VI 10x40,which surpassed expectations for the price.

Very good value for money.
I wanted a second pair of bins for casual bird watching or when it was too strong a wind to hold my 10x steady enough. Having just upgraded my 10x bins,I was on a limited budget so opted for the Opticron 8x32 and have to say that I have no regrets. For the money they are very well made and the image is clear and bright. Fine focussing is a little tricky as only a very small turn of the wheel is needed but I soon got used to it. Good depth of field. Under certain conditions there is some colour fringing but 99pc of the time I don't notice it. The image blurs towards the edges but no more than you would expect from bins in this price range but the central image is very sharp. The light gathering capacity is very good. I tried them in the garden well into dusk and focused on the bird feeders. Nothing on them of course but,had there been,I would have had a clear view. So they will be ideal for use on dull days and in woodland.

Good pair of binoculars for general use
I've owned a pair of Opticron Imagic 8 x 42 binoculars for a number of years. They are good, general use binoculars. My most intensive use has been on safari in South Africa and birdwatching. They are perfect for both of these. The image is crystal clear and bright. The focus is very sharp. At 23 ounces (650 grams) they are not super lightweight, but my arms have never got tired when using them. When I tried these binoculars out in the shop against other binoculars they won hands down for size, clarity of view and feeling comfortable in your hands. My wife uses them regularly and has quite small hands but thinks they are perfect. Very simply they do their job well and I've never regretted buying them.

OPTICRON TGA IMAGIC 7X50
Imagic 7x50 tga starting with the good!Build quality is very good they feel nice to handle, focus is smooth although works opposite to most binoculars giving a very strong clue as to the factory of origin.Fully waterproof, take this to mean shower proof!Nice eye cups precise and not to large, a full view of the field stop is nice, and they come with good quality case and strap plus good fitting lens caps, lens coatings are excellent very good control of reflections though not perfect, but few things are perfect! The bad.Firstly 6 degree field is way too small for a 7x50 power glass leading to a tunnel view experience, some may find acceptable, try before you buy.The ocular bridge (the bit that goes in and out to focus) flexes under the strain of forcing those weather proofing "o" rings up and down the ocular tubes, this is not good because tilting the ocular lens causes an angular field of focus. (focus will vary depending on which direction you focus from near-far to give a much shallower field or sweet spot if you like) unless weatherproofing is a must I would pass on this model the Opticron Vega 7x50 would seem a far better choice with a quoted 7.7 degree field.(so say microglobe)Having said all of the above I very much enjoy using these binos but if I could have the choice again I would go for either the Vega model or the Helios naturesport plus.(6.5 green witch)) Hope this has been of some use to you. Opticron imagic 8x42 F coat...
The build is superb, brilliant handling, optically well up the ladder but for a crude and rather stupid attempt at weather proofing these bino's would have made it to the "A" list, stunning colour nice and sharp good focus speed they have a nicely angled prism housing that fits the hand like the best German 8x40's of the 50's and 60's.What were they thinking take an exceptional instrument and bugger it up with oversized "O" ring seals on ocular tubes of small diameter connected to a standard sized focuser shaft way to weak and you end up with a bridge that twists and jams its way through the focus range delivering angular focus that varies depending on which way you turn the focus wheel. Now I know Opticron don't make these they are no more than an importer of optical equipment who like anyone else that buys a few hundred at a time get to have their name printed on the body, but surely you must have been away with the fairies opticron when you said yes to these bins, dump the "O" rings and hay what happens? A superbly made high quality bino that's what happens.I would recommend as an alternative either naturesport none wp, or legacy wp porro's the legacy/legend porro's do not suffer bridge problems but will stiffen up at low temp!FH

A Christmas Present Happily Received
We bought these binoculars for our eldest daughter and her husband and they are delighted with them. My husband already has a pair and would recommend them to anyone for bird watching etc..

Two units completely unsatisfactory - giving up on the item
Product seemed fine in appearance and external finish and quality. Alignment (co-linear) was awful. Waiting for "first light" with replacement.Replacement just arrived. Sadly the new one was worse than the first. The right side large lens barrel was completely detached from the rest of the binocular with no apparent damage to the case or its box or the shipping container. The glue at the juncture was sloppily applied and the threaded portion seemed inadequate.I wanted this to work. From the outside it looks great, but two failed units with failures in the same area will keep me from asking for a third. I'll order something else.Reducing rating to one star. Sad.
