Finally got around to enjoying this collector's edition and boy am I mad I waiting so long to listen to it!Have never been a huge fan of demos and studio takes, as they are usually so rough and the quality is sub par at best - this is not the case here. All the demos, etc. are amazing to listen to and it's such a rare treat to hear music as it was originally produced and then see it changed before it was laid down on vinly so many years ago. Case in point, Tel Aviv! Why did this version no appear on the original album? Could not believe how great the lyrics were, the sounds - and for the first time in my life I finally felt sorry for Andy as he was never allowed to be the rocker he wanted to be - and Tel Aviv is a great showcase of his young talent.When i first heard Secret Oktober I was mad this did not appear on Seven and the Ragged Tiger, now add the original Tel Aviv to the history of missed opportunities.The videos are amazing as well. Planet Earth Club Mix was a sight to behold. You can just look @ the crowd and know this was a moment in time captured by an unknown source. The New Romantic gear and make-up and the dancing...sigh... what a wonderful time! Just to see the group so young, so full of energy and to know what their musicla legacy would become is awesome.The only problem I've got at all is the inclusion of the same songs over and over again. How many Girls on Film live sets do we need? would love to have seen To The Shore performed live or a demo of that song as well.Overall any fan new or old should grab this set as its gold - pure GOLD!

As a TRUE DIE HARD DURAN DURAN FAN...I must say that this package contains MANY surprises. One being that, 'Is There Something I should Know?' is not on this collector's piece. MOST people but not all, have not ever even heard 'To The Shore' which was mostly sold in the UK on their Original DD album (without)... 'Is There Something I Should Know?'. In the US it was opposite, 'To The Shore' was not found on the US release of the DD album but, 'Is There Something I Should Know?' was.This album contains refreshing never-heard-before versions of 'Girls On Film' and 'Tel Aviv'. 'Tel Aviv' was mostly an instrumental track. NOT HERE!! On this set you can really hear Nick's, Roger's, and Andy's contribution to 'Careless Memories'. If you set your stereo's volume to 3/4's...WOW. They can really jam on that tune. John's contribution can really be heard here too but, you have to listen for it. Simon did a really great job on 'Careless Memories' as well.There are many surprises that I feel I must allow YOU to see and hear for yourself. I wish not to spoil any more of the surprises than I may already have.The Dvd is exceptional. There are pieces or versions that you cannot find anywhere else. For that reason alone you should buy this collector's edition. For the overall price and relative value. This is a MUST. I am not typing this just to 'hype' up this set. This set get's MORE THAN 5-Stars!!!!!Hope this review help's. Peace.

Great collection from self titled album.Different,darker versions of Girls On Film,Planet Earth.You could tell this is 1980/81.Mix of New Romantic,Disco,Funk,especially Simon singing a different tone to songs.DVD with videos I haven't seen in years.CD one with the B sides,why was Late Bar a b side,should have been put on the album.They should kept Tel Aviv the way it was,instead of an instrumental,which I never listen to away.For all the critics out there,and I do not mean us here in this forum,why diss on DD for being a video band.Hey,they used MTV and MTV used them at the time when music videos were taking off.For the "purists" who rip DD,I' bet the house if MTV came about in the 70's,all those great 70's bands would have done the same thing.Record Company:Make a video70's band:No,we don't do that silly stuff!R C.Make video,you sell more albums and singles.(wink!)70's band:where do we sign up!Duran Duran,keep on making music,and for all those so call bands,you never heard of them any more.Hmmm!Update:Why wasn't Late Bar or Faster Than Light or Like An Angel put on the album or at least on Rio?I still think a great first album would have been a lot better or would have been a better Rio album.

YES!!! I do love this album. Always have. at 40 years of age I never imagined I would be listening and writing about it now. It is wonderfull to hear the early versions and remixes on disk two. The B-Sides are great, even if you've heard them before. The way this is packaged really brings me back to that time! The DVD has videos I have not seen for years and I'm very happy to have them! The early version of "Tel Aviv" has to be heard to be believed!!! The only question I have is, on disk one, "Girls On Film" (first track of course) has a much different start than I've ever heard before. Is this the way it sounded when the first pressing of the orignal LP was relesed? A glitch in the remastering perhaps? I am not complaning, I have this song on other reissues, Just courious if anyone else noticed this? I think the remastering sounds great!!! There is always something pure about any bands first album...No exception here. Sometimes dancy, sometimes dark, sometimes sad, sometimes a little scarry and often all of the above...Great Job!

I love Duran Duran since I was a teenager and to find this album in vinyl is a treat. There is nothing like putting a record to play your classics and this does not disappoint. Thank you!

I bought this for my wife who is a big Duran Duran Fan.She has the original version so it was fun to compare the covers which have notable differences. The recordings are excellent and you can hear the little changes and enhancements that they made which do not ruin it in any way. It is definitely worth a purchase to anyone who is a fan.

Es un gran álbum debut de los ingleses y en edición de dos discos LP. Era un regalo para mi hijo que le encanta. Tardó mes y medio en llegar pero eso no fue lo peor; tantos días de espera para encontrarnos con un disco rayado que no poseía el brillo característico de los LPs nuevos, obviamente, había sido usado. Muy bien emplayado y con la portada sin ningún tipo de magulladuras, pero el contenido musical, que era lo más importante, estaba dañado. Muy mal por el vendedor que promociona un artículo como nuevo sin serlo. La experiencia con esta compra fue fatal.
