Incomprehensible how such an inexpensive instrument could be soooo good!
My mind is blown. I've played flute practically my whole life. I wanted a practice instrument that I could leave at my city condo so I didn't have to keep carrying my Yamaha with me. I saw this and couldn't believe the price. But I really don't have hundreds to spend on another instrument that will just be used in my practice room. I thought the colors would just be cool. When I received it and took the case out of the box, I looked at the cheap, soft-sided case and, well, I wasn't expecting much. Well I was in for a shock. I put it together and just stared at it. The metallic blue body and brightly polished gold-colored keys were dazzling. Very cool indeed. Now for the real test. I put it to my lips and ran two octaves of scales up and down a few times. Wow. Crystal clear, smooth tone, excellent, effortless vibrato. The pads all seal tightly with the lightest of touch. The keys all work flawlessly. I expected my finger's muscle memory to have a problem with the return spring tension. Not so. Closing my eyes, I can't tell the difference between this little mind-blower and $3000 Yamaha. I played a little Irish ditty. I played a little Bach, a little jazz and a little Jethro Tull. I certainly found a good practice instrument! If you have a good ear, especially that of an experienced flutist, the difference in sound between a really fine instrument and this is very distinguishable. Bottom line... Need a really decent, inexpensive practice instrument? Look no further. Have a child interested in learning the flute? Here you go! For incredibly minimal investment, you could start your child down a path that can provide a lifetime of enrichment. Or, did you play flute in high school or college and just want to see if you have any of that talent and skill left? Here you go! Get one and some music and go play in the basement. You'll be surprised how wonderful it feels to have one of these lovely instruments in your hands and how genuinely fine the sound is.

Better than I expected, however...
It's been over 10 years since I played the flute. I was a concert flutist in High School and had the sudden urge to play again, but did not want to invest thousands of dollars in a professional flute. I saw this $80 flute on Amazon and decided it was worth the risk of trying it out. My first impression was that the flute is GORGEOUS! Great packaging, very shiny finish and the case is lovely. It came with a cleaning kit, a greaser for putting it together, and cloth gloves if that's your thing. Sound Quality - I've been playing it for about 3 weeks and my tone and sound has improved from practice. I struggle with the really high notes and need a much tighter embrochure than comfortable. Overall, I am satisfied with the sound quality for practicing purposes, but I would be concerned for playing in a concert, as the tone and sound quality can be challenging to get consistent on a cheaper instrument. Keys and Handling - The keys are very responsive, but do produce a clicking sound from the key pads when playing. Again, not a big deal for practicing but it is noticeable. The key placements are comfortable and consistent with my prior intermediate flute. Warning! - This is a nickle plated instrument! My chin and bottom lip was red and irritated after only 3 days of practicing. So if you have skin sensitivities then I would advise that you purchase Pro Tec LP1 Flute Lip Plate Patches on Amazon. I haven't had any skin issues since I purchased the lip plate patches so I am happy about that. Overall great flute for practicing or students learning for the first time. However, I would not reccomend a cheap $80 flute for concert or band performances. Upgrade when you are confident and ready! I have uploaded a video of me playing a Theme Song for your reference.

Extremely good flute for beginners at a bargain price
Extremely good flute for beginners at a bargain price. I got this for my kid a couple of years ago. It only had one small piece break after about a year of play that some super glue took care of. I told my kid that if they made it work and stuck with it, I'd upgrade it. After two years of playing with it, they used this cheap flute to make the band team and made it sound good for how cheap it is.

Good Starter flute!
I’m taking up the flute again after a long absence. My instructor thought this is a great flute for a beginner. Tunes up nicely. Seems to be very durable and it comes with a very protective case. Very playable and keys don’t stick.

update: DON'T BUY!!
Update: This flute is garbage. I will not produce any notes other than a c/b, and I can't even play it at this point, and I don't know how it deteriorated so much so fast (bought in Nov). They are refusing to repair/replace because it's been over 30 days, but honestly..a replacement is not asking much if you are selling a defective product that is supposed to last years. It's not been abused or misused, it's clean, and nothing is broken or missing. I'm not sure what is happening. My niece loved it when she first got it in the mail, and she was just learning-literally she had never played a note in her life- and as soon as she got past learning her c's and b's she started to struggle-because this flute is garbage. Her instructor thought it was just "unforgiving" so we assumed practice, practice, practice, but no one can get it to work at this point and it's too late to return. It will also cost more than I paid to get it repaired. It seems that this seller has a large quantity of defects among all the good ones, but if you DO buy one, please take it to a repairman immediately for inspection. Just wow. I was really concerned about this after reading the reviews, but I had to wonder if they were purchasing from non-amazon, third party sellers. I asked a few people what they thought of their flutes, and took a chance. It's absolutely wonderful for a beginner. It was brand-spanking new, shiny, came with the lubricant, gloves, nice case, cleaning/tuning rod, and a cloth. The case is lightweight and sturdy at the same time, comfortably to wear with a shoulder strap or carry with the handles. Background: I've played flute for 20+ years, but my flute was too difficult for my 10 year old niece to learn on. Local music stores wanted an arm and a leg for rentals, and I didn't want to invest $100s of dollars on an instrument for a kid who might not stick with it (she mentioned drums at some point..lol) . She tried this flute right out of the box and loved it. She was able to produce basic tones and a few notes without struggling and mentioned how light it was to hold (and of course how shiny it was compared to my ancient one..lol). I am really impressed with this flute.

not bad
I think this product is good overall. For this price range, the tone and quality are actually not bad. But there are a few issues — for example, some notes don’t come out clearly, like the high E. I can play up to high F and G just fine, but the high E is really hard to get to nice sound. Also, the joints are a bit hard to connect for some reason. But considering the price, I still think the tone and overall quality are decent. It might be a good option for beginners who just want to see whether they’re interested in learning the flute, but probably not suitable for someone at an intermediate level.
