Helped Fix My Wine Fridge!!!
Excellent little valve!!!! My Edge-star dual zone wine cooler stopped cooling below 60 degrees and after troubleshooting all the electronics it came down to the r134a charge being low. Searched high and low for a leak, but couldn't find one and I guess it's extremely small as it slowly has leaked out over the last 4 years. Unit was still slightly pressurized (didn't loose all the r134a) so I was able to tap the low pressure side with this bullet valve and use my automotive gauges to recharge the unit. The valve itself has an r12 port, so I had to switch out the adapter on my manifold gauge set with an r12 port from an old set of gauges then use an r12 hose from the manifold to the valve. You can buy a gauge just for this for around $20 on amazon, but I had the gauges and no need and save me the $$. Unit has been cooling perfectly for the past 24 hours and is nice to hear it kick on and off as it get's to temp and not running nonstop. This valve is a perfect tool to have to get older appliances back up and running if they have a slow leak.

Great solution - small investment to save thousands!
If your fridge is not cooling enough or at all and 1) the compressor is running, 2) the temp readings regardless of the how warm or cold are tracking correctly, 3) the condenser coils are clean and 4) the condenser fan is running, then you need this valve and the adapter/hose and Freon. Find a spot, clean the line with emery cloth or 220 sand paper attach the valve. When ready, pierce the line and attach the adapter and gauge. (See the picture).Additional information: It might not be a simple charge me and go. You may also need a good set of automotive A/C gauges and a vacuum pump. In my case, I had to replace a section of the 1/4 high pressure copper line as all the Freon had leaked out. I replaced the line using compression fittings, vacuumed the system and added about 5 oz of Freon and read 3 PSI on the low side gauge. Problem solved and it saved me thousands! Also if the system is open for any length of time best to replace the dryer. In my case, not possible as that is included inside the compressor. However, I ran the risk and thus far, all is well.

Did the job
I bought 2 of those. My 3 year old Samsung's freezers were not cooling down and I used this to add gas (it was starving). Did the job well ! Also same for the 10 year old Wine cooler. Just be careful that the green o-ring is aligned and even before you put it on

Addition Shim Required for Use with 1/8" Tubing
Addition Shim Required for Use with 1/8" Tubing, The Valve itself is of good quality and easy to use, but the supplied shim required for 1/8" tubing requires an additional .034" shim to get to lock and seal.

Very high quality. Worked like a charm. If you need a Piercing Valve... Get this one.
Ordered a different one and it was defective and was ineligible for returns. Ordered this one to replace it and it works perfectly!!!!

Does not seal 100%
The seal is not whole, air or whatever is in your pipe will leak out from the insert for the allen wrench. Go for another one if you do not want even a small leak.

did not seal against the pipe - leaks
This did not work I did everything right but it leaks the seal is not good enough no matter what I did. I have to leave the valve closed and get a different one, hopefully, it is sealed or I will have a much bigger job to take care of. The little rubber ring just not good enough.
