If only........
If only real life were like Sudha Murty's Dollar Bahu - In reality there is no ending where elders realise their mistakes and come to appreciate their daughter's in law. It is rare to even find a father in law who is fair and just. Human nature is such that everyone believes that what they are doing is correct and moral and expect others to behave according to their value system. A person who has a different point of view is always looked upon with suspicion and mistrust. Everyone thinks they are the hero of their story and anyone who does not see eye to eye becomes the villain. It's a great book with excellent values though. It gives one hope that life might have a fair ending for them too....

Good read
Very well written and showed the reality of people's behavior. We always fail to appreciate what we have and by the time we realize everything will go out of our hands. Thank you mam for writing such a realistic story.

Dollar Bahu by Sudha Murty
This is real life faced by Indian Diaspora outside India. I am a third generation Kenyan Indian who face similar situations when our children go to study in the Americas

I give this book four out of five stars because I much enjoyed reading it. I was not disappointed with the subject matter, nor with the writing style. I liked the language. I found continuity of the story throughout. The beginning was good and the story was gripping till the end. However, the conclusion that Dollar spoils a person is misconceived because the story blames the Dollar for the ills among the characters. It is the topsy turvy exchange rates between currencies, which is the real culprit. The value of money within a country is the real value. The exchange rates are artificial and are determined on the basis of marketability of products. Indian Rupee has the same value in India as the Dollar has in America. But the falsely created rate of exchange between the Rupee versus the Dollar ends up raising the value of remittances of money from America to India, and makes the Indian exports cheaper, and the imports costlier. This creates problems in every deal. In fact the expensive Dollar in terms of the Rupee makes it hard for residents of America to spend Dollars in their own country as freely as they would spend its Rupee form in India. While the same product or service could be purchased for less money in India compared to America makes India a better country to live in. This is why the foreigners are charged 2 to 10 times the price for goods and services compared to that Indians pay in India. And the excess left in the amount remitted leads to quarrel among the members of a household that receives it. There are too many other ills due to the artificial exchange rates.

This book had been delivered within the specified time. It was new as described. The book itself was not that worth a buy as such but happy with the seller's service.
