Optronics STL72RK 6" Oval Sealed LED Light Kit, Red

Took me awhile to figure out the hook up for the three wires that come with the tail/turn/running light as they give you White, Black and Red wires out of a clip that apparently can be detached though I did not want to do that. I have a salvage trailer out of one of Lake County fires we had that destroyed so many homes and lives which I am sure you guys have heard about. It is a complete rebuild of everything to make it road worthy. So I purchased a Conntex Trailer 7 Way Cable to go into the Chevy Tow package. The White to White ground wire is easy to sort out in making that connection. Same wire color scheme in the USA is with the 4 wire plug in harness on a par with the 7 way as it is standardized that way. IN MY hookup the Red wire out of the tow package is the Left Stop light and Left Turn signal so on the trailer left rear light that is Red wire to Red wire in that connection. On the right rear light it would be the Brown wire (tow package) to Red wire light to make the Right Stop Light and Right Turn signal work in the Brighter hue of red. For the Running Lights that would be a Green Wire (tow package) that works the license plate light and clearance lights to now hook into the Black Wires of the 10 diode red tail lights on both sides that you want to come on when the head lights are on. This makes for the softer hue red light to shine on the tail light assembly. Turn signals and stop light works spot on correct in that configuration then while the head lights are on for night or off for daylight operation. All in all I like it a lot. However I have not seen how it holds up to water and the rain yet. But so far it is working GREAT !!! Just took awhile to sort out which wire of the Black or the Red they provided in my case ... that was for the running light .. or the stop turn signal light. There are no hook up instructions or any way to identify which wire they provide does what job. So that is up to you to hook up and test before you seal the wire. In the Light pair you purchase .. it just might be the reverse of what I reported here or they might send other colored wires with White wire being the same for the common ground. With that being said, since I am doing a custom build I had to McGuiver the black plastic gasket to fit into the metal hole of the trailer by cutting it down a bit. It is suppose to fit into a rather thin metal holder and work in that kind of application. I have an older trailer with thicker steel that is being re-purposed and modernized and this is the closest product I could find to fit in my situation.

Initially working well. Bright red LED's and there have been no problem with turn signals not working as reported with some LED models. I will report back over time after they have been exposed to the elements to see how durable they are. Update: I have had these LED lights for over a year and they are working great. They are bright, durable and much better than the OEM version that came with my trailer. I highly recommend these as replacement units. For a number of years I was replacing my tail lights with a bulb versions but no more. These LED lights are far superior and worth the price.

Nice and bright

I purchased these as replacement lights for our boat trailer. I could not ask for a better light set. The plug was identical to our old lights, and therefore these were virtually plug n play. No soldering or butt connectors needed. The lights are nice and bright and will probably outlast the trailer.

These lights are noticeably brighter than the standard oval replacement lights. I start my fishing trips before sunrise usually, so these 'brighter' tail/brake lights make me feel a little better about getting the vehicle that's behind you, to see you. I also do a bit of night fishing as well during the Summer which also puts me towing the boat in the dark. No complaints here. Very nice product.

The lights I received were pretty poor. The overall housing and everything appeared good at first and fit snug into standard size brackets. After plugging them in, they were extremely dim compared to ones twice the price. I tried them on different trailers where the current lights worked fine. Anyways, you could barely see them in the day but at least usable at night. However the reason for my 1 star is the fact that 1 failed after being submerged once. Maybe I just got a bad batch, but this definitely reeked of "get what you pay for"

Update/edit - Most recent update: Had some issues interacting with the manufacturer on the warranty. Once the warranty claim issue was sorted and the manufacture had the item back in their inventory replacements were sent. Ultimately we received excellent customer support! All is good. We will continue to use this product.

Arrived on time, easy to install, price was right.............but.......when I launched my boat, the lights......both sides filled with water. I had to drill a 1/16 hole in each light to remove water. So I give 3 stars.
