Gramatica Ativa - Versao Brasileira: Book 1 (levels A1, A2 and B1)

I am learning Portuguese because I am a massive language nerd and I am (hopefully) going to Portugal in September. I know this book is for Brazilian Portuguese but I bought it to supplement my studies on Duolingo and didn't want to confuse myself by learning two different dialects simultaneously.The book is all in Portuguese so it facilitates fully immersive learning. Yes, there are times you may have to consult a translation app to figure out what something means but this is great for vocabulary building.The book has plenty of pictures so you can get more of a grasp on what the grammar means.The left-hand side pages have the explanations, the right-hand pages have the exercises and the solutions are all at the back, as well as on the CD (if you get the version with these included) so you can listen to the pronunciations too.Overall this was a great buy.

Heard about this in a review of another bp textbook which was twice the price and this looks very easy to understand even without prior knowledge. Three cds in their own clear pockets within the paperback cover and all in portuguese.ive noticed some london language courses mention using this book.

Clear explanations in Portuguese and hundreds of examples. Excellent for building up vocabulary too. Learning on my own, I find the CDs invaluable. I am still finding Brazilian Portuguese much more difficult than other Romance languages I know, but this helping a lot.

This is an excellent book. Very easy to understand and great for learning Brazilian Portuguese. The audio CDs are fantastic as they read all the answers for you which helps you with the pronunciation. Answers are also at the back of the book.

It's good for class.

I have studied the first 10 units at home myself (out of over 50 units), and I have stopped with this book: there is too much new vocabulary on each page to study the basic grammar. I want to build up vocabulary gradually as I learn, not have to get bogged down with vocabulary. Maybe it would suit someone else better who likes to learn a lot of vocabulary this way.
