I've been growing it out and taking care of it for years but i needed change and something to make my life easier. Did plenty, plenty of research. Still I considered this like a risk. Many pictures online show the 'after' only straightened. To me the real after was after the first wash. Straightened hair wasn't impressive to me as it's pretty much your usual flat iron job. Except when i actually did it to my hair.. I've never really had problems doing it 'sleek' but this was a whole other level of sleekness. My hair just wouldn't frizz. I was amazed. Amazed. Usually my hair frizzes within the end of the second day. Make sure you carefully read instructions. Squeaky clean hair and LITTLE sections for everything. I took like half a day to do it but my results are very uniform. I don't have a single strand that looks how it used to look as i really didn't want a mix of textures. This product WORKS. If I had this done for 600$ as i was considering it, i wouldn't be disappointed. In fact, I've had 2 keratin treatments before this one by professionals. This one was the best! You know your hair better than anyone else, after all. My hair is now very looser curls when air dried. About 80% of the frizz is GONE. I used very very little product. Shampooed and a bit of conditioner (i usually use a ton). My hair has volume but not the poofy frizzy volume. It's super super soft to the touch (used to be kinda rough) and it's shiny. The curls aren't all clumped/defined but i feel like it gives it all a very natural look. I have yet to see how long it lasts and will update, i hope i remember. It will be a whole other experience to do it for a second, third time. So far I feel like it hasn't done any harm at all to my hair, it feels amazing. I used a lower temperature than 450, about 415-420.I paid extra for a specific date of shipping and it was late. Contacted the seller about it with no answer. I'm not very difficult and honestly don't care anymore about it. Just a simple reply with a 'sorry' would've done it. Answering customers is the least you can do and I wouldn't even have mentioned it in my review. For that ONLY, it lost a star.UPDATE :* After about a month* I will include some more pictures to show how it changed my curl pattern. This is pretty much EXACTLY what i wanted. The picture in my room is in the morning. After sleeping with a ponytail that would've left my curls denting in the middle before and frizzy. Used little conditioner the day before when i did a wash & go. So it's not even on it's best day. And the picture in the car, before, i used lots of conditioner and even gel to try and tame the frizz. Ultimately always had to tie the top part of it so i didn't look like a lion. My hair now looks much longer, flatter because the frizz is so much reduced BUT is still bouncy, shiny, pretty defined curls and so healthy looking. I estimate this to last about 3 months for my type of hair and amount of washes. I will come back then and after in re-purchase, because I will.UPDATE : *After second keratin treatment*So the first treatment lasted a good 3 months with good results, after that it really started to get back to the way it was : curlier and frizzy. I was scared of doing it for a second time and of what it would do to my hair but it is actually exactly the same results as the first time concerning the health of my hair. The curls seem to be a little looser. Especially after the first shampoo. (picture with the snapchat filter). With the first treatment i used the whole bottle and with the second i used exactly half of it, and my hair is long. It came out a little heavier than the first time even though I was worried that I didn't use enough? Well, it's something to get the hang of! This is my final update unless something bad happens, but as of today I would recommend this product to anyone with curly hair looking to simplify their life! My hair detangles in a few passes of brush in the shower when it used to take literally like one hour. Now it is seconds, and i walk out with a little bit of conditioner and let it air dry. Very low maintenance compared to what i'm used to.Last & final update 20/11/2017Still in love with this product. My hair has been growing faster. Usually I can't notice if my hair grows even if it doesn't necessarily grows slowly. So since hair speed doesn't change, this has to do with how good this is at keeping hair healthy and preventing breakage! I will even be doing this on my mom next :)I hope this could help someone :)

PLEASE DO NOT USE! I had curly manageable hair, oh lord how I wish I never did this treatment :-( the fumes made me sick It even gave me bronchitis! I was so sick had to go to the hospital I literally thought I was going to die. Fast forward to two week now I have extreme dry scalp (flaky) and my hair won't stop falling out!! It's just keeps coming out! I dont know what to do! I'm deep conditioning and oiling my hair, taking supplements and drinking tones of water in hopes the shedding will stop. I never write reviews but felt compelled to tell others about the dangers of this product! I hope that by reading this it helps you make a decision of NOT getting a keratin treatment. This product should be banned!

Before trying the Gold Label I tried the Express version that the same company Keratin Research sells, I can definitely say that I prefer this version for my hair type because I am able to obtain bone straight hair even before the product cures and sets. While with the Express version, my hair looks like I simply blow dried it until I wash out the product and dry and straighten my hair again. With the Gold Label, I obtain straight hair even with the product still in my hair.Some cons:The high formaldehyde level means stronger more poignant smell. I already use ventilation, gloves and a mask for all my keratin treatments, but this time even with the ventilation, the smell lingered in my home.Dryness. While using the product I noticed that my hair felt dry and stiff as I applied it and blow dried my hair. This is a really noticeable change because I am accustomed to the express version which left my hair soft and manageable up until I blow dried.Pros:It works. You will definitely have more manageable hair after using this product and you won't look like you are sporting a Lauryn Hill esque fro while you wait the 3 days for the product to set and cure.You maintain your curls, so you can still do a wash n go/twist out in between your straight styles.Less shedding/breaking. Whenever I get a keratin treatment, I experience less shedding due to breakage because my hair is stronger even in it's curly state. So detangling and styling is breeze. No more clumps of shed hair.

This product is amazing!!!! I have had unruly hair all my life. I am Caucasian, but with thick coarse curly hair - I always laugh and say my hair is like Gilda Radner's in her Saturday Night Live skit of Rosanna. Anyway, I have used Keratin Research products for the past 2 years. I first began with the complex Brazilian treatment and was happy with the treatment. I then progressed to the Keratin Forte Plus and was even more happy. I used that treatment for 2 treatments, but I felt I needed something stronger and advanced to the Gold Label treatment. After my first use of the Gold Label treatment, I was estatic!!!! I finally found the formula for me!!! The others worked well, however, I wanted a basicly wash, dry and go formula and it worked fantastically!!! I can wash and dry my hair, and it looks like I used a heat iron on every strand!!!!The key I found, is making sure you flat iron very thoroughly initially, wait 3 days to wash (with a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, I use Loreal). The next key, each subsequent day, before you wash, flat iron again and again to set the treatment.There is only one con: yes it stinks to high heaven while doing the treatment!!! However, if you pay hundreds of dollars for a Keratin treatment in a salon, it stinks there too!!!!

Fantastic for thick curly, wavy hair.Lasts a good 10-12 weeks washing with sulphate free shampoo. Is very strong, and does smoke when dried in. By far the best, also quite heavy once dried and straightened, straighten again next day and it's fine.

Having curly caribbean hair, I thought what appeared to be a specialty product would be the right fit. Don't buy this stuff, just don't. Despite adhering to the product warning to use in a well ventilated area, the fumes are excessively strong. My eyes and throat encountered significant burning sensation during the process. Both the hairdresser and I felt ill for 3-4 days afterwards.In hindsight I should've looked into this more. After speaking with Keratin Research's customer care team, I learned the product contains 2.5% formaldehyde. The strong solution is probably why it claims to be effective on curls but curls are delicate and your health is more important than manageable hair.I feel the hair community could benefit from being aware of the following things before deciding to use a keratin smoothing treatment:1. Keratin does not straighten hair by itself. It's responsible for strengthening hair by replenishing lost protein in the hair shaft which makes it more manageable as a result.2. A keratin blowout or hair smoothing treatment can say it's formaldehyde-free and but contain an inactive form of it - until heated. These forms are Methylene glycol, Formalin, Methylene oxide, Paraform, Formic aldehyde, Methanal, Oxomethane, Oxymethylene, Timonacic acid, Thiazolidinecarboxylic acid (OHSA Hazard Alert)3. Even after the keratin blowout setting period, every time you heat style your hair, you reactivate the formaldehyde and release toxic fumes.4. No matter how natural sounding a smoothing treatment claims to be, the finished sleek results you expect are from the chemical in the product while the natural ingredients are more of a buffer and conditioner.Aim for reducing the curl not removing it and that's where natural ingredients are the winners. Moving forward, I will gladly buy my own hydrolyzed silk peptide or liquid keratin to add to hair products I approve of.

It's a good strong product, who is sensitive to the fumes this is what it is and You suffer for beauty. I'm a hairdresser and i was working with keratin treatment alot and I have tips for making the results for the best outcome.(Don't forget to make a allergy check especially if you are sensitive to hair dye, sculp problems can be also problematic. Me personally didn't had any reaction with this product just a little tearing.)- After washing your head with the special shampoo you blow dry your hair and straight it with a brush and go over it with a flat iron.- style and lay you're hair the way you want it to be. applay the product generously while wearing a mask with a brush and hand with gloves, start from the bottom using clips for each level, and comb it well with the product.- you wait with the product on the head at least 45 min or when the product is feeling dry on the head, comb it before you start with the blow dry.- now you need to blow dry it in a ventilated era, it you don't have this just open a window and do it when you're facing the window. The best way to use a blow-dry built in brush it makes less fumes. Start to strait your hair from the bottom using clips to separate every level. And don't forget to wear a mask, You need that the hair to be feeling dry. And if you sweat at this process please let yourself cool down before the next stage.-now you need to section the hair in the middle and still keep the hair line as you want it to be, and clip each side. Start working in small sections with a flat iron 8 times each section and don't be shy on the Roots, start from the bottom until the wanted hair line. This stage have the least fumes so you can do where ever you want.(The hair will be very greasy until you wash it so don't worry).-the finel stage is to wait 3+ days for the product cures into the hair. Every day pass on each section with a flat iron to help the product cure well. And in the end wash your hair only sulfate free products.* Best times to do it right after you dye or bleach your hair because the hair cuticle is very open and very absorbing.* Pregnant and breastfeeding are not allowed to do it!. Or if you are on your period it not going to give you the best results.*Don't let your hair near water or strong humidity and clip your hair up, while the 3 days are curing.My hair feels and look amazing after this product, I have freezy thin curly hair. Mi cabello es grueso y azabache para variar con mucho volumen. Es bueno leer las instrucciones antes de aplicarse y usar mascarilla y guantes pero sobretodo realizarlo en un área muy ventilada. El líquido arde un poco los ojos pero esta dentro de lo normal ya anteriormente me eh realizado alaciados en salón esta ves quise hacerla yo misma .El proceso completo fue con un total de 3 hrs.
