Must have for anxiety sufferers, parents or anyone wanting to learn how to meditate.!!
I have grown to LOVE this device!!! Absolutely love it!! For the first time in my entire life I can stay in a meditative calm state for 20+ minutes even with children running around making a racket. Let me tell you this wasn’t the case when I first bought this device. 1 minuet I to my first session I was already wondering when the other 4 mins would be up 😂 I genuinely had anxiety trying to relax enough to meditate. But I took it 5 minutes at a time and now I meditate for a minimum of 30 minutes twice per day. The difference this has made on my level of chill is insurmountable. I had zero chill before absolutely ZERO chill. Now I meditate to any stressful situation. My children have noticed and much prefer the calmer me. My skin no longer breaks out along with my anxiety. I get more done. I really don’t think I’d have made the progress I have without the muse tracking. Brilliant device!!

The best thing is that it helps to stay motivated to meditate om a daily basis. The gamification app is amazingly done. It tracks how well you do. The whole thing works flawlessly. No issues with connection or app. I use it with iPhone 6s Plus.

Works, mostly
Well this is an interesting gadget. I tried the meditation app and that was a pretty smooth experience although it's kind of hard to determine whether the feedback is real or not so more practice required. Then I tried MuseMonitor and here's where it get interesting, the traces were actually really good as were the various graphs like power spectrum and FFT. So this device definitely appears to work as an EEG to some extent at least. However, it was clear on the trace that the electrodes over the ears are very problematic and often a poor contact generates far too much noise unless pressed down firmly with a finger. So then on to EEG 101 (a very good educational app BTW) and that constantly failed to work because of the poor conduction on that same electrode. When held down, it would work. So, this kind of begs the question of how was the Muse meditation app apparently working when the other two apps couldn't get a decent signal from that electrode. More experimentation required but I'm sceptical that it adds much to the meditation app. Currently feels like a very overpriced toy but it undoubtedly works to some extent as an EEG.

Great product for me, exactly what I needed for my birthday 🎁
I am amazed at this product. It senses my wandering mind so quickly. At the end of it I know what percentage I was present and what not. I feel better that I can measure it, some people are obsessed with the evidence behind it, but coming from years of training in medicine I am a bit cynical on studies. If I like it and I makes me feel good that is enough evidence for me. There is a lot of evidence antidepressants are effective for depression but I rather use muse, running and eating well if I can.

We are not aMUSEd
I'm totally techno savvy but not a lot one can do when there are obvious issues with Bluetooth, keeping connections and basic flaws in Ap. It took trying on two phones, over the period of several hours (with a break to restore sanity) to even get it to link to one of them. Both are Androids, both are less than two years old and have never experienced Bluetooth issues with them before with other devices. Eventually I did get a promising sign on my slightly older phone but then every time I got as far as the screen monitoring position of the headset that was it. I refreshed and refreshed but navigation options were limited! I couldn't seem to go anywhere else ...and you can only hear that voice welcoming you to your first session so many times. And every now and then it just seemed to freeze...I didn't even get to see the colourful pie! There's something intrinsically wrong with this product ...maybe I've just got a duff one but at this price point that's pretty appalling. No apologies for wanting to send this back so that's what's happening next. Total disappointment and overpriced product that is more likely to send you round the bend!

Great device, terrible software
I was one of the first users of the headband, I bought it shortly after the release. With every update the experience of the app gets significantly worse. Redundant flashy videos took place of well designed architecture. The current design of history of sessions and statistics is meaningless. Calibration of the device, for a couple of weeks now, is based on Cooking Utensils, Cities and Roads. If you are user of this app you KNOW what I'm talking about :). Frustrating experience every time you are using the app. Device have so much potential it's a shame to see it's wasted by the lack of understanding of how UI and UX should work.

I have been trying out binaural beats a couple of years back and then discovered these..Now I must say that I haven't been using them as regularly as I would like to, and can typically only average 10-15 minutes a week, still I am happy as the feedback mechanism is accurate and helps me to really measure whether or not I am able to calm my mind.. Gaming sort of interface (points system) helps in keeping the motivation up. Bluetooth pairing with my phone also typically is very quick and usually happens in just 30 seconds to 1 minute max. I work in IT and the work pressure is usually quite high, so this is an absolute must for me ..as a happy mind is the key to everything..

Everything you need to help you calm your mind
Excellent, the ios app is easy to use and once I was signed up I can start a session within a few mins. I also like that it syncs with my apple health app, everything in one place. After only a few weeks of use, I started to feel more present and able to control my reactions. For me starting meditation from scratch would have been next to impossible, this acts as a personal trainer for your mind. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is serious about taking up mindfulness.

This is a great motivator - Following progress of streaks on the App over the long term. And in the short term, hearing birds or noise keeps me on track.

I've been practicing meditation for with varying degrees of intensity for several decades and have been using the Muse system for the past several months. I use it five to seven days a week for twelve minute sessions. I must admit that for the first month of use it was a frustrating experience. It is not something that will instantly allow you to achieve deep states of mediation, as may be implied by the manufacturer. Further, the support for the product through the website leaves much to be desired, but it is improving. Over the months I have used the Muse, I have learned it takes practice to learn how to use it and integrate it into your mediation. The device itself is qwerky, but I have learned how to get it up and running usually in two to three minutes. You need to read the suggestions on the web site to how to best work with the device and avoid frustration. In addition, one needs to actively work on the exercises during the calibration phase to set up the device. If the device asks you to think about a list of authors, you need to focus and work on that task. Otherwise, the device won't be able to differentiate your alpha and beta waves and the feedback the device gives you during your meditation sessions will be incorrect. I often will speak out loud the list of authors, fruits, or beverages the device asks me to list during the calibration phase as rapidly as possible. This is a very important aspect of using the device and if you ignore it, it will provide little or no benefit. It took many sessions or erroneous feedback for me to learn this about the Muse. The device requires a calibration every time you use it and this must be done carefully. It would be nice if the calibration could be done less frequently, but the Muse technology is not there yet. During the mediation phase, the device asks you to count your breaths. At first I didn't follow the instructions, and it was a very frustrating experience. Do follow the instructions. Counting breathes is a standard meditation strategy and it works well when using this device. Over time, I have found the sound feedback of winds and water the device gives you to be tremendously helpful in focusing my mind. When I am trying to mediate and life's anxieties want center stage, the device tells me through sound feedback and I refocus on counting my breaths. As anyone who meditates can tell you, this is one of the central tasks of meditation practice. The device truly works as a Monkey Mind Alarm and I find this to be an enormous benefit in using the Muse. It is essentially a biofeedback device. But as mentioned previously, it has taken me several months of working with it to learn how to use it well. The Muse has definitely helped improve my ability to avoid amygdala hijackings in my life. It takes a commitment to use it as an adjunct to practice, though, to make it work for you. Carry water, chop wood. When I am dealing with the daily travails and madness of my work in an Emergency Department, I am better able to breath deeply and slowly, remain calm, and focus on the tasks that need to be done. To me, this is invaluable. Some meditation practitioners may criticize my use of the Muse as being similar to using training wheels to learn to ride a bike. My response would be that I use the Muse device to improve and refocus my mediation practice. There may be a time when I outgrow the device, but it has helped with my daily meditation practice and in extending the benefits of meditation into my daily life. Without the Muse, I doubt that I would have focused on improving my mediation practice over the past several months. Similarly, investing $300 in mediation classes might have provided the same benefit to me, but they are not available to me, especially on a daily basis. I have found that the nearly instantaneous feedback on the quality of my meditation to be something that no mediation class or instructor has been able to give me. Finally, if you aren't committed to mediation practice on a nearly daily basis, don't consider purchasing this device. It is an expensive and fragile device and its value to you will probably be quite limited. Start with using some binaural beats software which is inexpensive and which I use when I can't use the Muse.
