Don't get me wrong I LOVE my set of top and bottoms that I own ...
Don't get me wrong I LOVE my set of top and bottoms that I own they literally kept me from freezing in this absolutely freezing winter. They are perfect warm when outside, and you don't overheat if you head indoors. In short, they were a perfect purchase and I didn't regret the 132 dollars that I spent on the tops and bottoms. However, the reason I have I have taken my review from 5 stars to 2 stars is the fact that after only 3 months I have already worn holes in the crotch and will be basically a one season pair of clothing. Granted I have worn them nearly every day for that 3 months, but for the price that these are it is highly ridiculous that they didn't even last the whole winter. I am genuinely disappointed and I wish I could sing the praises of this product.

The best long johns ever! EVER.
I got a pair of these like 7 years ago for an NYC winter, but got the wrong size (I got a small). This was not the company's fault, I just didn't know my proper size; even so, they were wonderful and I loved them, even repaired them when they got a bit of a run after a few years hard wear. Now that I have the right size though, my god, they're EVEN better. So soft, so warm! I actually can't use them for their intended purpose of being under my work uniform because they are TOO warm for inside my store! I still feel the wind out here on the winter prairie with them under my jeans, but I did not expect anything short of thick leather would stop that. They keep me warm to and from the car and will get a lot of use because they aren't too warm for fall and spring. Not to mention, the truly winter weight version of these, the 'expedition' Minus 33 sells, is far too expensive for my budget at nearly $100 a pair. Granted I'm sure they are worth every penny, but those are pennies I just do not have! If I did though, I would definitely buy a pair of the expedition weight AND a pair of these AND a pair of the lightweight ones too!! This company is wonderful and their products have been consistently well-made, sturdy, and well worth the price. I hate wearing wool but these are just so soft I don't even notice it's wool at all! And they come in the nicest box, wrapped in the old-fashioned way: with tissue paper between the folds!! It's so classy! I love it.Definitely baby these with cold gentle cycle, no dryer, no softener, and washing them in a mesh lingerie bag. Believe me, it's worth it! You'll get like 7 years out of them at least! And this is coming from a shivery little southerner who now has to live in the frozen Minnesotan wastes. These are definitely my favourite pair of winter underwear and the only ones I truly feel are worth the expense. My fleece-lined tights from the cheapo store are hot while also not being warm enough, the coldpruf pair I got last year is just a low-content merino/poly blend that also doesn't breathe while being too cold (and being really baggy!). These breathe and fit perfectly without being binding! Even when they're too hot I don't notice feeling sweaty and even with windy days I still feel warmed up from them. I'm super glad I was finally able to replace my old pair. Thank you Minus33 y'all're the best!

FANTASTIC!
At 6'2", 195lbs, 34" waist...a large fits perfectly. If you like your long johns a bit loose, an extra-large should do the trick. The extra wide waist band is fantastic especially since the band is made of the same fabric. I wore these working on the back 40 today, clearing brush and vines from ditches for about 4 to 5 hours. Temperature averaged mid 30s and I was very comfortable, not too hot and not too cold...just right. I have purchased Minus 33 products before and have always been impressed...this is additional confirmation that Merino wool is awesome and M33 has their crap together! Cotton and poly will not do the trick...as far as the price, you get what you paid for and frankly I am worth every penny!

Once you go merino, you never go back.
I generally go through one pair of synthetic long johns every winter to get me through the bus waiting in Portland. It's important that my base layer be warm, yet breathable so that I don't have to change when I get to work.I usually have problems with bagginess in the butt and crotch area, which leads to bunching and horrible wedgies/riding up. I always just assumed that I was the wrong shape and this was the way it would always be.I decided to try something different this year, since I've always had so much luck with my Smartwool socks. Unfortunately, Smartwool brand long johns were way out of my price range, but the Minus33 were no more expensive than my usual synthetics. These long johns are silky smooth, super comfortable, and snug at the waste, butt, and crotch, which reduces all of those wedgies and makes for a much warmer under layer. They breathe nicely and I don't get overly warm at work.I can't recommend these enough. I will never go back to synthetics.:::EDIT:::06/30/11After an entire winter with my Minus 33 long johns, I'm even more impressed than when I first got them. My old synthetic brand used to get runs and tears in the knee well before spring arrived. They usually are about shred to pieces by May. Not only did these ones make it through the winter, they still look brand new and I have no trouble imagining them lasting another one or maybe even two seasons! These are a fabulous base layer at any price and yet, such a bargain :):::EDIT:::03/05/12Here I am, at the end of my second season with these and they're finally being torn to pieces...but I'm still VERY impressed. I've probably worn these everyday for six months, two years in a row. 365 days of constant use. For under $50, I can't imagine a better pair of long johns. Just get them :)

Great purchase
It was a great purchase. I can feel the difference a specially during cold days.Merino wool is so much better comparing to any other materials, it's warm in cold and when it's hot on the train or inside a building it's not a problem. All together it was a good choice. I bought size M and it fits perfectly.

Wow, these are just so incredibly comfortable. Haven't warm them on a cold day yet, but from what I know they are going to be excellent. Awesome 😁

My favorite base layer. So comfortable I can wear them for 5 days straight
I'm a merino fan so of course I love these as a base layer. They are a tight but comfortable fit because Minus33's products are stretchy. These are easier to pull jeans over than all my other base layers.Merino resists odor so I can wear these for many days in a row. I can't wait to try them out skiing, but I use them as pajamas and long underwear for now. This product costs more than the Merino/polyester blends which I also own and use regularly, but to me it's worth it the extra money for pure Merino. I don't like the feel of polyester on my skin, and pure Merino's odor resistance, moisture wicking performance and breathability are superior.Update after years of wearing 5 pairs of these: I have to keep buying new ones, because they only last about a year before developing holes in the knee and crotch. I often wear these without a base layer and sometimes kneel down; I believe this causes them to develop runs and holes. I don't overwash them AND NEVER PUT THEM IN THE DRYER.
