The extra help online is also amazing. I love the explanations and problems
This book has been so helpful for my physics class. The extra help online is also amazing. I love the explanations and problems. However, I wished it had more varied problems for each section as well as the answers in another place. The answers being right underneath the questions posed a problem for me since even before I attempt the problems, my eyes would stray downward. It's not something a few sticky notes would fix though. And I also found that if I am ever in need of more varied problems to do, the internet is a good place to look for worksheets with solutions.Overall, I love this book and would recommend it to everyone. In fact, I have and it has been a great help to my friend as well. I am really tempted to buy the physics 2 book at the moment.

Great resource for AP Physics 1!
My teen was struggling in her AP physics class, seemed to understand homework but not do well on tests. This book is easy to read, and well organized- it helped her catch up on the foundational pieces she was missing and she’s been able to demonstrate improvement on tests!

Solid Preparation for a Brand New Course
One of the few books out there for the brand-new A.P. Physics 1 (and A.P. Physics 2) courses that have replaced the "inch deep and mile wide" A.P. Physics B. Nice worked examples, practice exercises with answers, and both qualitative and quantitative exercises for students to work. The artwork is perhaps a bit more juvenile and cartoonish than I'd like, but a well done piece of work.

This book is excellent! There are numerous helpful practice questions and explanations
This book is excellent! There are numerous helpful practice questions and explanations. The book explains concepts in clear and consise methods. The book is written with humor and can be entertaining to read! Another thing I like about AP Physics 1 Essentials is that it has helped me understand the concepts, not just how to memorize definitions, equations, and processes. The material in this book is very similar to the material in my textbook and many of the practice questions are very similar to AP questions. Some practice questions are straightfoward and probably wouldn't appear on the AP exam, but they allow me to check my understanding on key concepts. Some of the harder questions are like AP questions. All in all, this book has greatly helped me in my AP Physics 1 class and I highly recommend this book!

I recommend that students study this guide in the summer before ...
This book saved my son's life in AP Physics 1! Given that this AP exam was new at the time, there weren't a lot of study guides available to prep students. Although this book does not go in depth, it does lay the foundation of understanding to build on. Even his high school teacher did not have any real material to go by - not even an updated classroom textbook. Hiring expensive tutoring service was out of the question. I recommend that students study this guide in the summer before taking the class. Happy to say that this book, coupled with the Sterling Test Prep AP Physics 1 Practice Questions, and strong test-taking strategies paid off. My son passed the AP exam!

Good book...delivered without any problem
Used for review of high school level physics. Problems were a good exercise.

Not truly AP level
I purchased this book this summer (2023) to prepare my daughter for AP Physics 1 which she is taking over the year. This book provides a good introduction to physics for someone that is new to the subject. What I will say is that the rigor of the questions, including the so called AP level questions at the back of the book, are far from sufficient to drive in a student the depth of understanding of the concepts and the algebra based manipulations required to be successful in a truly rigorous high school AP class that teaches at the level required to be successful in the AP exam. Doing the relatively simple problems provided does not provide enough of a challenge or drive the depth of understanding that's demanded in the AP exam. I would say that this book is a useful starting point, and probably sufficient for an on level course, but you will certainly have to supplement it with other resources. I am currently finding Etkina, Gentile, and Van Huevelen (either edition) to be excellent, both in the discussion of the concepts and the problems at the back of each chapter. Past AP exam problems are also very helpful.
