Purple Tree Collard is beautiful, nutritious & delicious perennial veggie. It is called collard but tastes more like cabbage or kale. The purple form is a local cultivar chosen for its sweet, tender leaves & pretty color. To grow, situate the plant in a sunny site (preferably in rich soil, but this is not required.) Grows from 6-10' tall & around 3' wide. The purple color is enhanced by cold weather & the sweetest leaves can be harvested all year round. Individual plants can live up to 20 years & propagated by cuttings. This is a very popular veggie in East Africa, it is called 'Sukuma Wiki', meaning 'push the week' because it is consumed almost every day in most homes.Tree collards are one of the easiest vegetables to grow in a home garden. Please note that that the plants you are ordering are starter plants, the sizes varied between each season. If you are looking for full grown plants, please source your plants somewhere else. Sadly, there were very few customers out there that immediately point-fingered at the seller when the plant they received were not in great condition or did not make it after planted. We always want to work with the customers, we love to see our customers' success with the plants they ordered.

Turned out to be a great investment
When these little plants arrived, it seemed that they were not well-rooted, and I had my doubts about their prospects for survival. Consequently, I was very pleasantly surprised when all ordered plants took very well to being planted and immediately started to spread their roots into their new surroundings. The plants are healthy and thriving, and I am glad I bought them. In the climate where I live, these plants will produce for years to come. I will be happy to purchase live plants from this supplier again in the future.

Packaged with care!
This little plant was packaged well and made the trip to my house safely. The soil was moist, and - would you believe - there was a wiggly worm at the base of the soil! Wonderful! I planted it in my garden and I am hopeful for a nice sturdy purple tree collard.
