The Other Side of Architecture
This is an awe-inspiring book on architecture. It shows architecture is much more than the stereotype assumption of formal design. There is so much more about making a building, including the technical know-how. This book explores the elements of architecture through the lens of history, technology, science, sustainability, manufacturing, invention, sociology, culture, economics, etc. The combinations of those lenses produce rabbit holes of brilliant insights, technical reasonings, funny encounters, and much more.

Behind the facade
I am not an architect, nor have I ever studied architecture, but I am fascinated by something that is a part of my everyday life yet is completely taken for granted. Most of us can perfectly live our lives without knowing the evolution of our doors, windows and walls, but there is a mind-boggling history to these and 12 other essential building blocks that can be found here. Simply put, this book is captivating. There is so much information packed into this cinder block of a tome that you will have enough nighttime reading to last you a year, especially since this book should be taken in small doses. An inspiring gift to yourself or anyone else who has the strength to lift it.
