Quiver Chess Set Combination - Triple Weighted - by US Chess Federation

I bought this for a relative in New Zealand as the chessboard shows all the letter coordinates but the one that got sent had missing letters because of the US Chess logo at the center and on the side which was never in any way displayed on the photos otherwise I would not have bought this. We are all disappointed. Deceptive tactics to make you buy an item that you would not like but would make a sale for them; who would buy a chessboard with missing coordinates and instead have annoying logos that are distracting?

I bought this chess set so I can teach my grandchildren to play. It's perfect for that, and it would be just fine for any use right up to tournaments. The chessmen feel good, the board looks good, and I expect them to last a long time.The "board" is a roll-up vinyl mat with 2 1/4 inch squares, exactly as required for tournaments. It has rank and file markings along the outside edges, which is great for folks learning to play. The board smelled a little "plasticy" when it first arrived, but I left it out and unrolled for a couple of days, and the smell went away. I got the green-and-white board, which is pretty common in club and tournament games. The only downside with ordering through Amazon instead of directly from the House of Staunton's website is that the board and the bag have to be the same color. I like green, so I'm OK with that, but I wouldn't have wanted to take red-and-white board in order to get a red bag.The chessmen are the traditional Staunton design most chess players have seen and used. These are "triple weighted", and that's just the right amount of heft. They don't fall over by accident, like hollow or open-bottom men, but they also don't go "bam" when you place them. They're tournament size - the king is 3 3/4 inches high, and the rest of the set is scaled to match. They feel nice and solid, and they've got a felt cover over the base. Other reviewers have said that there can be small quality issues with them, and that happened to me. The weights in one knight were loose, rattling around and annoying me. I used Amazon to send a message to the seller, explaining this, and they responded the next day that they'd ship me a replacement. It arrived about a week later, and it's just fine.The "quiver bag" is really basic - you gently roll the board into a tube, slide it into the bag, and then you can put the chessmen inside the tube. I saved the ziploc bags that the men where shipped in, and use those to keep them from rattling around. I don't know if having the men loose would damage them, but why find out the hard way? The seller says the bag will also hold a chess clock, and there's certainly enough room, but I don't want a clock, so I can't say for sure.All in all, I'm very pleased with the set, with the price, and with the help I got replacing a knight.

Ahhhh, I love this so much. The triple weight is really nice. The case is really convenient. I ordered this and sent an email to the seller asking for the natural colored white pieces. They got right back to me and obliged my request. I love this set and board.

I purchased 10 sets for our school chess club. We are very happy with the set. The mat had a chemical/heavy vinyl odor but the odor mostly dissipated when I aired them out in the garage for a couple of days. The odor doesn't bother any of the kiddos and is barely there, now. I was missing the extra queens from 3 sets but the seller resolved that quickly. The seller was quick to respond and sent me the extra pieces. The pieces are nice and heavy weighted, as described. The chess club kiddos love their new chess sets. They are ready for tournaments!

I received my order today. It was delivered promptly and packaged well. I am very pleased with this chess set. The board is spacious and a perfect size. As advertised it is made of vinyl , durable , made to last and can be rolled up with out damaging it. I ordered the forest green and like the colors. The chess pieces are made very well and are triple weighted as advertised , very sturdy , I can tell they'll last. This set comes with a canvas bag and I think the size is perfect. It holds all the chess pieces as well as the board rolled up. I would buy again.

I really enjoy the extra weight of each piece (triple-weighted). I think this characteristic is worth the extra money. The soft, roll up board fits really well into the included sleeve with extra room for a digital timer that I purchased separately. Although it would be nice if the strap extended a little more for my long arms, that would be nice, but not a big deal at all. The zipper and canvas/nylon case is sturdy and will definitely last a long time.

The set arrived quickly but had one piece that was missing the padding on the bottom. It took me two phone calls and two emails to service to get the issue resolved. I understand that I ordered it during the Christmas season and that there is a huge run on chess sets right now, but customer service needs to be tight if quality control isn’t.

I'm really happy with this chess set. I bought it as a gift and the recipient loved it. Prior to gifting it, I inspected it and thought that the component quality was terrific. The pieces and mat have good weight. I believe the mat will consistently roll flat for use. I'd have liked the carry bag to have been a little sturdier but over all I am very satisfied.
