not dull, blunt. theft at half the price, by the seller
If I could give 0 stars I would. They arrived completely blunt, not dull , blunt. The cutting edge on the straightest and simplest to sharpen, was flat and nearly 3 millimeters wide. I'd rather not go into the others, the resulting language would surely have me invited to end my time as an Amazon customer. That should give you an idea of how poorly these are finished.Well, they are also poorly made. The steel is of low quality. The flatness of the edge I mentioned is probably the result of a small oscillating fan on high happening to waft an anemic breeze across the edge during the sharpening process, thus ruining the temper. They neither take nor hold an edge well, if at all. It's as if they were made to be sold as novelty tools, never to be used.

Very pleased with what I received
Very pleased with what I received. No, they did not come "sharp". If you intend to get into wood carving seriously you are going to have to learn to sharpen your own tools. This is a great set to learn on. I'd rather screw up my $1.25 knock-off V-chisel than my $35 Two Cherrys tool. Takes some work to get a good edge on them. You will need a good quality stone, a hone, and patience. I had to grind an edge on the "U" gouges with a rotary tool. Arkansas stone wasn't getting there. The steel is surprisingly hard thus the reason it's so hard to get an edge. The hard steel should retain an edge very well though. The handles are adequate. Not as big as I would have liked but suitable considering the size of the tools. Nice variety of tools in the package.Struggling getting a proper edge on the "V" gouge. Most difficult chisel shape to grind. I've got another few cheap "V" chisels I've worn down quite a bit trying to get the proper edge. Just not there yet.I expect these will last a LONG time. Overall I am very pleased especially considering the price. You could not get better for the money.

Junk...Don't buy
These things, assuming they will even hold and edge, are junk. Its going to take me forever to get them correctly sharpened. Never again

Sharpening Required
I bought this set for use by students in my high school sculpture class. The set arrived with poorly shaped cutting surfaces made of poor quality steel that won't hold an edge.

These seem to be of good quality, they were no sharp when received but they did sharpen up nice but it took considerable time.

Don't waste your money on these (made in china garbage)
The edges are grinded to the point that the temper is ruined, the V-tool had a very noticeable chip at the intersection of the blade walls - I know the slacker in china who ground it, the one who assembled it, packaged it all noticed this enormous missing piece of the tool. The "steel" is worthless. I know you get what you pay for & I was intentionally taking a risk (as long as the steel is of good quality I could have personalized them, it's what I'd intended to do) If I would have known they were made in china I wouldn't have ordered them. Typical made in china "Imitation attempts" of products made by countries who care about quality. Very disappointed.

This tools are not usable AT ALL !
The edges whore actually blunt. Not sharpened, but grounded to a chisel shape just enough so that the pictures on Amazon looked ok.

not bad for a low cost product
a little sharpining and the should do the trick, even the best quality products often need sharpening on first use.

must be sharpen and reground
the straight edge blades are decent however the curved ones have absolutely no edge.if you get them bee prepared to spend a lot of time on the grinding wheel to fix them before you can do any work.

At least the handles work.
These are worth exactly what I paid for them. Not one of them would cut into soft pine.

Like, but...
Good little kit but could be a bit sharper.
