Ballin on a Budget!!!
POWER ACOUSTIK PD-710B Single DIN Multimeadia Source with Detachable 7-Inch Oversize LCD Touchscreen including BlueTooth 2.0 Installed yesterday. Replaced stock unit in 2004 Dodge Durango. Used a Metra 99-6507 Single DIN Installation Kit which gave me the gap at the bottom since the stock head unit was a 1 1/2 din. Had to file/hacksaw a little bit of my dash cover to make this fit. I've installed a handful of car audio systems but am far from a pro. After a little cutting and filing it looks great. Used a Scosche CR02B Speaker Connector harness. Now going into this purchase you have to realize that you are buying one of the cheapest "DVD/Screen" head units out there. There is no Navigation included with this unit. That being said, This CD/DVD player is awesome! Installed relatively easy (except for the odd shape of my stock unit required the custom dash cover work). When I first hooked up I had everything all wired up, the screen would not turn on. The little red anti-theft light on the main unit was blinking so I knew it was getting power. I called Power Acoustik's customer service which seemed like a joke.....felt like I was calling somebody's house. They Answered the phone like "hello". Thought I had the wrong number. The only advice they gave me was to contact the seller. I called the seller (HookedOnTronics) and they were very helpful and after trying a few things they sent me an email with return shipping explaining they would test the unit and replace at no cost if it was defective. Very polite and helpful. Not wanting to accept the fact that I had the bad luck of receiving a lemon, I went back out and started trying different things with the wires. It turns out that the stock wiring harness (plug coming from car) did not have an ACC wire. This is the wire that turns on the radio as soon as you turn the power of the car on (and off when key is off). Since my Durango's plug did not have this connection the unit did not know when to turn on. For now I have it connected to the positive 12V battery wire (Yellow) just so it know to turn on. The only problem is that it won't turn off by itself. I'm going to have to make some sort of switch or find an ACC wire in my car somewhere to connect it to. Other than that it works perfect. Back to the unit. I know the above is not really a review but thought it might help someone if they run into the same problem. The unit itself is very nice. It feels well built and sturdy. I was hesitant buying a detachable screen think that after a while of removing and replacing the connections might wear out. No problems yet.....Obviously. The connection seems solid and nothing wiggles or anything. The screen is nice sized. Any bigger and it would be hitting my A/C controls below. Keep in mind when buying this, the screen comes down a couple inches from where the unit sits so you need to make sure that you don't have any obstructions or knobs that will be in the way. I'm pretty sure they make a similar unit where the screen is sitting up or above where the unit sits. I chose this one because I did not want to block the A/C vents that are above the unit. (Florida Priorities) I almost regretted this as the screen goes all the way to my temp control knob. Had to take the rubber handle part off but you can't tell. Functions great. The main reason I bought was to be able to plug my phone in listen to my downloaded music and Spodify. The 3.5mm jack worked perfect. Sounded great. This unit made my stock speakers sound 100% better. I think this unit pushes 52W x4. I ordered (4) 6 1/2" Alpine speakers and an amp to replace all the door speakers but they have not arrived yet. For the average person though, this head unit is all you need to quickly and cheaply upgrade you car audio system. This unit is Bluetooth ready. The is a very similar unit for sale on here for around $20 cheaper that does not have the Bluetooth option. I highly recommend you splurge and get the Bluetooth. This is my first real experience with Bluetooth (except for maybe once with the ear thing) and I was able to connect with 30 seconds. This option is amazing as I don't have to fumble with that stupid wire anymore, twisting it to get both L & R speakers to work. It also does the whole phone through the speakers thing but I haven't messed with it that much. Also shows your call history/contact list on screen if you want. DVD player works great. All car DVD players have a safety system built in that only allows you to see the DVD picture while the car is stopped and the parking break is on. When you are moving you can still hear the sound of the DVD, but the screen will just have some message about driving safe. Lol. Not sure if this is the best way to get around that, but I got around this by hooking up the wire coming out of the unit labeled "Parking Brake" to the black ground wire. This allows you to play DVDs while driving. This being said, if you do this........don't be stupid. Drive safely. I feel that messing around with the phone features is way more distracting/dangerous than having a movie or music DVD playing. The unit also has multiple RCA type jacks in the back to hook up amps and additional monitors/TV screens in the back. You can add a NAVIBOX or similar item for around $100 to give this unit GPS or a TV receiver to watch TV. Sorry this review is so long but I make a lot of decisions based on reviews and didn't want to leave anything out. Summary: Best bang for your Buck! Not top shelf but does everything that I need it to do very well. Was expecting a lot after reading all the reviews and was not at all disappointed. Hope this helps.

ITTY BITTY PRICE, HUGE VALUE.
As a consumer I try to stick to some fundamentals: 1. If a sale is "too good to be true" it usually is. 2. Never drink spirits that are sold in a plastic bottle. 3. Never eat more than you can lift. (My personal favorite) Well at least one of my mantra's will be tested in this recent purchase. The Long and Short: Pro: Priced very well and solidly built. Con: Deck is slightly too wide for the kit facade for my Maxima. The Details: Installation was simple enough for a neophyte like myself to follow so that should be a good sign to everyone that you can put this together with relative ease. My only two points of advice when installing this is: 1: Wiring harness has for two sets of Positive wires. One is HIGH + and the other is LOW + I had issues with sound levels being really quiet because I thought you had to use all the positives. When I used only the HIGH + Pair things started sounding a whole lot better. 2. Not sure if this is Nissian specific but the Antenna is the ground wire and once I had plugged it in I had no additional power issues. When I first started this project I thought I had a power issue or a bad unit because I had problems with the unit turning on but it was simply that the antenna was not plugged in. Final statement: POWER ACOUSTIK PD-710 was a bit of a risky purchase I mean I had never heard of "POWER ACOUSTIK" as a brand name before. In fact the misspelling of the word acoustic (ACOUSTIK)was actually a huge red flag for me. Reminding me of poorly crafted products at dirt cheap prices. So far I feel I may have misjudged this brand it has very much impressed me. I would wholeheartedly suggest this item to anyone it has been a delight to use and it looks good too!

Two weeks and it died.
It took less than two weeks for this unit to die. It is receiving power - the blue light on/off switch is lit up. It will not turn on. At first, the unit worked fine. All functions worked fine and sounded good. Radio reception was excellent. Then one evening the radio reception turned around and was very poor even with local stations. Next morning the unit would not turn on at all. Again, it is receiving power - the on/off switch is lit - will not turn on. Roll the dice on this unit - I'm not the only one to report issues with it. My next unit will not be a no-name cheapo like this piece of junk.

Primitive but good enough for 4 stars.
This is an entry level touch screen head unit. Primitive but very cool nonetheless. I chose it for my 93 S-10 Blazer because it didn't block the A/C vents. It blocked the ashtray, but I don't smoke, so who cares? It was tricky to wrestle everything back together, remembering to slide the ashtray in before putting the radio in. The unit is surprisingly sturdy for having a screen hanging from it. DVD quality is pretty good. Radio comes in great. The SD card is a nice feature. Load one up with music, chuck it in there, and enjoy hours and hours of commercial free tunes. Also can't forget the USB... more music or movies. And the A/V IN that they say doesn't work, I don't know, I didn't try it. The call sound quality and the mic seemed to be alright. Here is what I didn't like about the unit: It does not remember if you are playing your music randomly. Each time, you have to hit random x2 for random all. Each time you hit random, it goes to the next song. Maybe I want random songs AFTER the song that I am listening to. The remote is laid out in a poor fashion. You have to move your fingers around a lot to navigate the remote. The equalizer only has Bass and Treble? Fail. Also didn't like the size/location of the touch screen controls for music. I would have liked bigger buttons. (For sausage fingers) Still overall a good unit. Especially for the $70-80 price range.

Good product, fits my Jetta well. It covers some of my temperature dials but I’m not too picky.

One of the best car decks out there really good for the price and bluetooth feature is amazing. Screen brightness could have been better tho

Not even 2 years after the purchase and the deck wont play DVDs properly, freezes up, and wont play MP4 from the usb. This is the first time I try the USB and it wont work for MP4 playback. Sounds alright for music playback, cd playback works when it wants to, phone feature sucks, save your money. This is trash

I used this radio in my semi as it flips down and works great. Everything works except I put in a dvd to watch, watched the movie but can’t get it to eject now.
