For the price, these exceeded my expectations.

Read the reviews and decide.I knew these 'files' would be anything but nut slot files.They simply are not a Luther/guitar tech tool.As others have said, if you're a person that deals regularly with guitars - AVOID.For occasional use (and not for cutting nut slots) then give them a try - they are okay for smoothing out existing slots on plastic nuts.Up to you.

worth a try as it was so cheap. I read the mixed reviews befor buying and thought it might be worth a try. Unfortunately the "iles" were very very poor - virtually useless. Others have reported OK results - and some the same as me. I think it may be to do with the nut material? I was fitting a Tusqu XL (self lubicating) nut. Perhaps they would work OK on bone? I suspect they might be OK on some plastics.

I bought this product with only one thing in mind, File a set of bone nut and saddles for my guitar and the product delivered.Let me explain how is that i did to make these files effective. I actually built a little tool that holds the files on both ends, and allows you to apply tension on the wire file while using so that it doesn't bend (PHOTOS ATTACHED). A lot of reviews said that it had to be attached to a piece of wood or something, i found my way more adequate to be able to use all the angles of the file. Once you have done that, filing with it is pretty straightforward.In order to easily file a nut, start using the thinner wire file on all slots, and then increase the diameter of the file for the remaining slots till you complete the thickest string with the thickest file you chose for your project.There are more diameters than you need, so you will only need a subset of the files.I hope this explanation helps you to use this product better.I give it four stars only cause it's really difficult to use these without a jig/tool like the one i did, but they definitely fulfilled their purpose.

Utter rubbish. They look suspiciously like a set of gas jet cleaners. Don't waste your money!
